My chameleon has a hurt leg!!!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

I think we all agree the vet was the #1 priority and we all are hoping for Ivy’s speedy recovery. To @CasqueAbove point, I think we can still offer some husbandry advice in the meantime if @Haley Hendrix is open to it at this point. If Ivy does pull through, she will need more than adequate conditions to come home to in order to continue her improvement. Otherwise, she will continue to decline. Freeze dried crickets and a water bowl that the she is obviously not using based on her dehydration is not an ideal situation for her to come home to. But, I am also sympathetic to the current situation.

I’m already working with her through pm . She is aware .

OP already said they were looking. I am not disagreeing with vet. The fact is where ever you are the odds of a Cham or even reptile experienced vet is very low.
Sadly reptiles are only a step above fish to many people. This means disposable :( . I do not agree with this but it is a fact. How many people take their sick lizard or snake to a vet. They just replace. Is this horrible, yes but true.
For the vets, it means they don't get many chances to examine and learn. It is also not always in their best financial interest to specialize in herps in many cases. There is just more interest and profit in the dogs, cats, and to a lesser degree birds.
I have encountered many "Exotic" vets, that really meant small mammals like bunnies, hamsters etc. Not Herps.

When you find the vet though they are worth their weight in diamond.

I am strongly considering a visit to a vet 5 hours away, just for a wellness, because he/she is an actual specialist and I would love to converse with them.
I’m sorry but I’ve been reading over your advice and it’s not the Safest. First your saying you don’t need a vet then going on about how expensive it is and it scares new owners. Then you pivot to how vets are needed and blah blah so what is it.

I’m sorry you haven’t had your luck with Exocet vets , but hey we have all been there.Your advising no vet due to past bad experiences, went throw 3 vets b4 I finally found one that I felt comfortable with and then he was a 2 hour drive.

At the end of the day if you are not willing or financially ready to pay/take your animal to the vet don’t get an animal. That’s borderline animal abuse to deny them access to vet.

Yeah, before getting a chameleon i read that they weren’t cheap animals and I know that. She’s at the vet now and if she needs to stay for more nights she can. We’re doing whatever needs to be done so she can get better.
@Haley Hendrix @JoXie411 can help you with ivy’s care . Once you hear from vet In The am on her condition and when she may go home @JoXie411 can work with you on starting an bioactive structure .

So sorry your confused. Real simple some can afford some can’t. If you can’t see that you should open your eyes.

By your logic only those with money deserve pets. Pretty F **ked up self righteous BS.

So again simple I see you need it. Not everybody comes from the same background. I will not judge by financial ability.

Just so we all know, how much do we need to make a year to own a pet.

Update: I wanted to let y’all know that’s ivy is okay and she will be coming home later today. I plan to go bioactive. I’m going to the store today to gets more plants, and places she can hide.
This is wonderful news. Please use the forums and reach out to the community with any questions or help you need.
