My boys sharing

So My boys didn't want to stay on their free ranges, so now they share a cozy cage together. They seem to get along great :)

They definitely don't look to be the slightest bit bothered by each other's presence. I'm sure most people wished their chameleon's got along so well.

Cute picture! Do you leave the cage door open so they can get out to their FR? I only know one other person that had a male veiled and male panther get along.

How cute! Reminds me of the good ol' days when Charlotte still hadn't reached full maturity and still thought males were cool. Now she hates their guts, but none of the panthers ever had a problem with her.

Oh, Little Charlotte! How cute!

that panther looks a tad bit skinny and since they are together im going to point a finger at the obvious. they don't have to throw "im in stress" colors to show they aren't liking the living arrangement you have provided.

edit: they both look skinny to me :(

are you container feeding or free ranging?

how often are you feeding and quantities?

how much do they eat of whats offered?

They are picky eaters, that is why they are a tad skinny. I have been buying more larva every week to give them a little extra since all they eat are dubia's and only when they feel like it. They have always been like that, no change because they are together. Other than that they are healthy.

They look lean (perhaps a tad bit more than I like on mine) but this is what one of mine looks like (also a stubborn eater) and Dr. Alfonso says that's how he prefers to see them - lean and healthy, not chubby which is what most people consider healthy in chameleons. He called my other chameleon a sausage, and there's like a 30g difference between the two.

Do they chose to be with each other? With the pic I posted I didn't put them together or anything, one was on his free range and Charlotte decided she wanted to cross the apartment and be on that one as well. And there they were all night, sleeping inches apart out of their own will. Same thing with my Jackson's, he also would regularly hang out with the panther in the photo. It was interesting to see, his free range wasn't any different or special from the others.

What do you think is the cause of the strike?

-excessive supers or meal worms?

when they are in a free range setting can they still get to each other?

Alfonso sounds like a great vet. i although with experience would rather have a (not obese) but somewhat meaty (you cant see bone structure at the tail, arms and ribs while resting) chameleon. Things happen and if a chameleon may take on a serious illness or injury and is skinny. this chameleon may or may not make it out of the woods. where a meaty chameleon or what i consider "fit" will have more of a chance. I believe, a veiled i have that survived a dog scuffle would have not survived if he was skinny. after the accident before he finally came back to food (which was months) he got extremely skinny.

what strike? They eat they just don't like to eat a lot. and I never feed supers or mealworms, Only hornworms, silkworms, phoenix worms and wax worms and that's only occasionally. Their free range over the summer they could get to each other but their new ones were seperated and they didn't want to stay. They are fine, just lean. they don't want to over eat and lose their handsome physique :p

thats really cool! I did not think different kinds would like each other.

Do they know each other is a Cham? Do they just think another male of some sort, no worries food source feeds him too :D

I'm not sure, they have both always been pretty mellow. They may just think the other is too different to be a threat lol like "oh that guy is too ugly to get any chicks, he's cool then"
