Rescued a male Panther from Michigan win I got him very malnourished eyes sunken matted shut with hard infection. Very small body to a very large head. Have had him roughly six weeks now. Put his weight back on looks healthy. Eats and drinks for me daily. Eye movement is really good and active. No discharge. He walks his cage and is active but I think he only seeing shadows. Any suggestions would be helpful. Giving a small drop of vit a on cricket once a week.

Hi, glad to hear you've had progress. Being that it came from some rough conditions a vet visit may be best. What makes you think he only sees shadows. Mind describing his behavior that makes you believe that? Please give a run down on his enclosure as well as pics ty

Bamboo dowels cris crossing etc. Every where he can reach he can touch somthin. 65watt flood light in ceiling changing to a 50 watt its a little hot at the top. Two live plants hand spraying at this time three four times daily.. Bio bubble water cantina coming Monday. Hopefully he will learn to find it.. Not sure how to get pictures up yet I'm working on it

Doc no I sure don't drove 5hrs to get him from a high schooler. Who bought him from a guy with this issue. Original owner had him at vet. Was given antibiotics they ran out on high schooler. The boy only gave him hornworms dusted with calcium for outside chams. He was pretty bad off. I'm struggling to get pics posted on here

Have you tried doing an attachment for pics?

I am worried about how he was taking care of... what lights he was exposed to, what lack of lights, what lack of vitamins, what lack of hydration... He may not get much sight back. Is he eating by himself?

Wow that thread is spot on. With what I'm dealing with. (ryker) I'm struggling to get these pics on here not sure what I'm doing wrong

Right now we go into bathroom with cup of Luke warm cool water. Hole in bottom, start at tail getting him wet let water run over his body. He will raise his head up and I'll let water run over corners of mouth. Feeding little water on his lips with syringe. He will open his mouth insert cricket or superworm. Once he starts 4/6crics 1/2super.that varies. On what his gut looks like.

That is actually pretty good. Ryker I am having weight issues with at the moment. And he is a problem with getting him to drink regularly, so he gets two showers a week (is really useful for getting enough water into them and getting good eye washing). And then he is also a lot better with pureed foods for me than whole insects. So I actually bought a nice small blender and blend three feeders at once (with some greens or a bit or fruit sometimes) and then add like 1/4 of a cup of water. He gets at least 3 cc a day, usually 4 cc. He also gets his supplements this way too. But a lot of people like you have no issue feeding their blind guys whole insects. Ryker at the moment now sees more than he used to. And then sometimes he will have a few bad days through out the better. It just crazy how much he can worry me. But he definitely shows improvement.

  1. Srry using phone. To get these pics on here not sure what I'm doing wrong. My old lady will get them on here tomorrow.

Not sure, I click the attachment and then documents area of my phone and then it's like gallery or something?

Responding to his eye movement question. Been noticing him track me with one of his eyes not always but I'll reach for him and if I come at him right. He notices. I'm going to screen the linear 10.0 to dull it down. take the basking light wattage down real low. His cage is pretty warm without basking. 85at the top

He sounds like he sees more with his good eye than Ryker did in the beginning. Ryker has improved a lot since I completely eliminated the artificial UVB and switched to only natural. At the moment Ryker goes through days where I can see a huge difference and he almost sees like normal, but often it's only for a couple days (and he still isn't able to see minute movements of insects yet).
