Hi everyone...
sooooooooo....
where should I start?
I have always wanted a chameleon, since like... I can remember...
Last year I decided it was time to get it, so... I came to this forum, and made a big investigation on what was needed to be a good chameleon owner..
It was like a 3 months, or so...
I bought all the stuff, cage, lights, heat... drips... I even made my cricket colony work...
As time passed, It got a little difficult for me to get them, because I had a lot of work.. Sooooo .. I decided to pause the whole chameleon thing..
And... today .. I was at work, my girlfriend called me, and asked me If I could quickly go to her house... So ... I did...
As I came in, she gave me a box... and asked me to open it...
So.... inside the box where two little veiled chameleons!!!
I was In SHOCK
I mean.... I have everything in here...I just have to assemble the reptibreeze cage, and get some good plants in there...
The thing is that they are a little bit smaller than I tought they where...
Could anyone in here tell me how old this guys can be?
My girlfriend asked for a couple (male and female) ... I know I cant house them together... I will have to get another cage tomorrow..
The only thing that concerns me is, how much should I feed this little ones, I know that little veileds are fragile....
What should I do, and not do?
Right now, I placed them into two rubbermaid big containers, with a big jungle vine, and a real photos plant...
They are both in different containers right now...
(I didnt sprayed them or something because it was already late, and They seemed a little tired) ... Im guessing they had a stressfull long day...
soooo... any advice???

here are some pictures.... I will try to get better pictures tomorrow...
how old do you guys think they are? and how can I exactly sex them? I dont know how those male spur things look like

thanks a lot!! =)

they are cute. give them some time to adjust. it could be days before they eat after all that stress. once you get the male/female the new cage just leave them alone for a week or two and only go near to mist/feed them. they should start warming up a lttle more after that. evenually you can probally hand feed and than learn the best way to get them out for sun on good days. these chams can also eat fruits and leaves. they love hibiscus :)

Congratulations! You are now a chameleon owner.I would say they are very young, not sure just how young. They will be fine in the rubber made tubs for a while. Just make sure they have a heat light and a UVB on each tub. They need to be misted 3 or 4 times a day, with warm water. You need to offer crickets that are a size to fit between the chams eyes. You ddon't want too large crickets. Because they are in tues you need to monitor their temps so they do not get too hot.sexing is easy. Look closely at the back of the foot. One will have a tiny nub if it is a male. Females don't have the nubs. Keep in mine the chams are small so you are looking for a very small nub. Could you post more pictures? If we have something to compare to it is easier to estimate age. Also I would like to see better pictures close up of each one.

Thanks a lot everyone..
I guess Ill never stop learning about this little guys...
I have already sprayed them today, none of them drank any water...
I placed crickets inside, and neither of them seem to be interested into them...
what shoould I do???
am I over reacting? =P
Oh... I also have another question... can I keep them together for now... or should they be already separated... (they are separated at the moment)
here are more pictures... the male seems to be a little more shy and stressed than the girl..
here are more pictures!!

Based on size you could keep them together, but until you know they are both healthy and eating well, I would keep them apart. They may be drinking and you not see them. More of an issue is needing to make sure they are eating. You need to count how many crickets you put in and how many are left. The males is pretty skinny, he needs to eat. You could also get strained baby meat and see if you can get them to eat that. let me know how it goes.

Thanks a lot everyone..

cute :) as is stated above they might not eat for the first few days. it could also be your feeders are too large. a good rule of thumb is that they can eat something the size between their eyes (i think thats right)

You are right. See you are learning. It is also in my first post to the op above.

alright...
Soo.... Setup its done...
My reptibreeze cage has everything inside... sheffera, pothos, and vines.
The big dripper above, driping all day long...
and my cricket colony eating circket crack... and calcium and stuff...
They will be together for now..... I mean.. they are 1 month and half or two old, so... no problemes for now...
The only thing that worries me is that I havent Seen them eat a a single cricket since I got them the day before yesterday, and I havent seen them drink water either...
the male seems to be a little more stressed when I come around..
he turns black and hides completely... the female stays green and she even walks up my hand...
what should I do??? im worried about them dying of starvation =S!!!

many chams go through a hunger strike phase when they change homes. If they seem uninterested in the crickets you could always try ordering housefly pupa or blue bottle fly spikes or fruitflies. Most chams love flies and will happily hunt them down.

probably the coolest thing a girlfriend could do!
especially for us chameleon nerds thats the ultimate plus
10/10 points awarded to her :D
have fun!!

The age of your two little ones seems to be around a month or even less. They seem incredibly tiny for veiled chameleons. Especially when I see them compared to the size of your fingers. I saw mine born on 9-6 and a month later he was about the size of your little ones. Thats my best guess on age.

The bad thing is that theres no place where to buy all those insects...
(not even on internet)...
So... I have to stay with crickets...
I still havent seen them eat crickets at all...
I took a couple of flies that where around my house and placed them inside, and they did eat them... I saw them eating...
why arent the crickets working =/?
what can I do? Im nervious and frustrated =(

Those are some cute little babies :) Is there a chance the crickets are not the right size? Or maybe they have been eating some without you noticing? Why can't you find fruitflies online? check the top right corner to find site sponsors who sell all kind of insects........
If you have the right size they should eat them, you'll just have to be patient and make sure you have enough foliage for them to feel comfortable so they'll settle in sooner :)

Awe such tiny babies :) They have been through alot in their short life... hopefully they will settle in and start eating soon.

Well.. they dont care at all about crickets...
my babies dont even look at them!
I cant buy flies or stuff because I live in Mexico, and theres no place for that in here =S
I've been putting house flies inside, the ones I catch inside and outside my house for now... and they seem to love them...
Is that too bad =s?
Im just desperated, I dont want them to starve :(

How big are the crickets you are feeding your chams?? They should be no more that 1/4 inch for a cham that size. A varied diet is pretty important to these guys as I'm sure you have learned in your research. I'm not trying to sound rude, but if you are unable to purchase insects locally or on-line, this is a problem.

The thing is that I used to have my colony of insects already back on time, way before getting them. But I didnt get them since I was kind of busie at that time.
And my girlfriend got them to me as surprise, and Im trying to work this out until I can get the colony working back again...
crickets are small, but still they dont seem to be attracted =/
