i will get my 1st chameleon very soon and i have some questions!
i will get a panther chameleon 3-4 moths older and i want to get a 36" x 18" x 18" cage is that the proper size?
i still have a problem to get a proper lamp can you guys give me some suggestions? should i use a uv of 5.0 or 10.0?i need both uv and heating bulb of 60w?and my last question should i use both mist and drip?

i need both uv and heating bulb of 60w?yes you need a uvb bulb, and a regular house bulb for basking. the wattage of thebasking bulb will be dependent on what will make your basking temps correct, so you may need to go higher or lower, depending
and my last question should i use both mist and drip?i use both. if youcant mist 3-5 times a day, then get a dripper set up. but alot o fus use auto misters.

hey welocme to the forums!!
for lamps you are going to want a 5.o uvb linear tube stlye perfered by most.
and a dome lamp for your basking bulb, wattage is adjusted to get the desired temp.
a 36x18x18 is a good size cage, tho you may way to move up to a 24x24x48 for an adult.
you can use mist and dripper, misting is definatly required and drippers are good for offering a source of water between mistings.

That size will work for a baby. You will need a 2x2x4 before adulthood.

You need the 5.0 UVB light. linear preferably.
You do also need a basking bulb. This should be a 75(ish) watt white housebulb.
You may have to play with different wattages on the bulbs before you get the basking area to 90-95ish.

i use several different things.

i use those for 2 uvb bulbs. and one basking light.

as a combo. it hold smy uvb and my basking bulb.

i have 3 chameleons, so thats why i have so many lights.

yes.
but it doesnt use a uvb tube light, uses the coil.

now you can go to petsmart and get a hood that allows the tube light tobe used.
and you could use the dual one i gave a link to, to put two lower wattage basking bulbs in.

I would recomend going to any hardware store to get your fixtures.
A clamp on style dome light(like for working on a car) is perfect for basking.
Then get yourself a linear fixture.
They have plenty of them to choose from. Just get one that is compatible with the bulb/s you are going to use. Getting the bulbs or finding out what bulbs you have immediatley available might be a good idea. That way you could make sure the fixture you get is correct.
I would get a dual linear fixture as well. It will hold your uvb and a plant grow light.

i plan to get a mistking in a week or so.
i would get an auto mister.

No one is "better", as a humidifier and mistsystem serve different purposes.
IMO
A dripper should be ran during the day. If the lights are on, water should be dripping. This will give a consistent source of water, and ensure the chameleon has it always available.

A mistsystem/rainsystem are basicaly the same thing. Mist is going to wet ALL the surfaces in the cage, and saturate the air. Water evaporating from the cage and the air drives humidty up faster/higher.
Mist is not the best for providing drinking water though, as it has to build up, then start dripping, then be noticed by the chameleon.
Rain wets surfaces, but not air. It gives plenty of water to drink.

IME a humidifier(fogger/cool mist type) can really help if you live in a superdry area. I would say they are more trouble than anything else, and would only recommend using one if its super dry.

I use a MistKing and I love it.
