Mushrooms in my pot !

I had a bit of a shock this morning when I looked in my fellas enclosure - what I thought were new sprouts of Pothos have turned out to be mushrooms

I took them out straight away. The Pothos had been re-potted with organic soil some time ago, so I'm not sure where they came from. Could it be too moist in there (it certainly doesnt seem to be) ? Could these be harmful ?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It is Deffinately possible that they could be poisonous. But hey love the title of this thread. If I woke up to that I might have just had a party!! Lol jk

In all of my research i have ever done. i see nothing that says mushrooms are good or bad. THOUGH i would suggest if they ever come up again you pull them out right away and even maybe re-pot your plant if its gonna keep happening. esp if your Cham is a Chewer as i like to call it. when they chew on plants and stuff. you also never know what kind of mushrooms they are.

Knowing a lot about plants and fungi i can tell you you would not want to eat those mushrooms so your cham deffo shouldn't lol. As you said mushrooms usually grow in a very damp space and typically in a darker environments then plant so like underneath them in the shadows. I would like to know what your Humidity is in your cage.

Thx for the replies. Humidity is generally 50-55% rising to around 65% after a shower. I have noticed its 'darker' at the bottom of the enclosure, as the Pothos is running riot atm :p This will change when I finish the new enclosure this week.

I will keep an eye out to see if they come up again, as Ringo has been known to have a nibble every now and then. If they come back I will repot, just to be on the safe side.

Just one more thing though - where did they come from ? I havent introduced anything else into the enclosure for quite some time, so Im at a loss as to what triggered their growth ?!

haha well fungi have spores. they can float through the air and start fresh. or your soil organic or not still could have had stuff in it already. mushrooms really can pop up anywhere at any time for no reason. at my old apartment my shower leaked and part of my floor got wet under the plastic tile. low and behold a mushroom popped up between the tiles. its common so i wouldn't worry to much just make sure they arnt in your cage for him to eat

your humidity is pretty good. i would suggest to actually keep it closer to 60 in general if you could.

I have them pop up all the time many different varieties most days I'll have 30+ new ones but I have a fully planted bottom to my free range so I'm not surprised but they usually die off in a day or two and I've never seen my cham take any interest in them

I found some in mine this weekend as well. I pulled them out also! I dont have organic soil but cant you bake the soil?
