Mucus: How much is too much?

So, today my Melon found his way out of his cage. He's lately become very aggressive getting to be about 6-7 months I believe, Male Veiled, and I hear this is common. So he was hissing, almost 'growling' and mouth gaping. I noticed mucus on the sides of his mouth, but no 'strings' no coughing and only 'growling/hissing' when holding him. Hes asleep now, and very quiet. No labored breathing.

So I'm wondering, should I take him in for a vet visit?

Humidity is 20-30% mist three times daily, barely brings it up for an hour. Always hydrated, pure white urates and good looking eyes.

Just want some quick advice, we took some pics and will be posting in the health clinic in more detail. Just thought I'd get a feel for what it could be, if anything.

Also it looks like he has a small burn on his right eye ridge, will be applying a small amount of neosporin in the morning just to be safe. I think he squeezed through the top of the screening by the light, based on the bruises on the sides of his mouth and the burn.

Sorry to hear your veiled is not happy. If you have a safe place to free range they are so much happier not caged. Any amount of extra salvia could be a sign of an RI but it could also be from him being upset. Has he been puffing out his chin any or holding his head up? I'd keep a close eye on him.

Thank you for the response!

I'd love to free range him but his cage takes up the only space. It's all a work in progress, he will have one in the near future.

He kind of holds his head at an angle at times. I figure hes doing it to watch the cats or the water when I turn on the dripper. I haven't seen him puff his chin for prolonged amounts of time.
