Moving rooms

The weather is dropping rapidly in georgia, and the room that matcha was in does not keep heat well. it will be dropping into the 20s this week.. so i moved matchas entire cage to a different room, in a closet so it’s still quiet like the other room.. she’s already showing signs of stress and not wanting to be in the cage. i covered the sides so she can’t see out anything but the front. is it just a waiting game of her getting used to the surroundings again?

let me rephrase, a quieter, lower activity room same as the other. not necessarily a closet? an opening in the wall

Ok lets break this down a bit more... Do you have heat in the house? Because I can't imagine you can deal with a room that is 30-40 degrees either. If you do not have heat then this will be an issue. Chameleons can die if temps drop below 50... When you are talking about 30-40 then they will not survived that. They need a night time range of 55-65. So this means if you do not have heat you will need to look into getting a radiant space heater and running it in the room. Which means pulling her from the closet because you can not put a heater into that small area with her cage.

Her reaction is based on every change you made. Not only was she moved but you changed her view by adding the material to the sides. This also changes all of her gradients as airflow has now changed. In addition this changes her overall temps in the cage as well. So humidity and temps now have been changed by adding the material to the sides. You will have to monitor this very closely as females have very specific temp needs and you do not want your humidity exceeding ambient levels. Also make sure you are not blocking any of the screen on the top with that material or airflow will be further reduced.

I want to note you have a lot of fixtures sitting on top. This is going to make it so that you get more of a heat build up between all the fixtures running and them blocking the top screen. Looks like she is in a smaller cage size as well.

Basically her world has just been turned upside down. Nothing looks familiar. Blue fabric panels that she is not used to and she has a different view of a room as well. So she is going to go through a stress period. It may only take days or it may take her weeks to adjust to the changes.
