I'm moving to a different apartment and I need to figure out a safe and easy way to transport them. I'm only moving about 15 miles away, but I'm afraid of stressing them out to much. Any tips from the professionals?

My thought would be to try to move the cages as intact as possible so that their environment (plants, vines etc) aren't different. I would not dis-assemble and then re-assemble at the new place. .... And I would make them their own move with all of their equipment. Dont try to move your personal stuff and their stuff all at the same time. So that when you get their you can spend the time immediately to get everything up and running. Get them settled in first, then worry about moving all of your personal stuff. ... They will adapt but keeping things simple should help. Good luck

I just moved to a new apartment on Feb. 13th. It too, was close, probably less than 10 miles away. I did pretty much exactly as you just described, with a few minor differences. I actually moved everything out of one room, cleaned/swept that room, and put the chameleon cage and all chameleon supplies into that room. Shut the door. Moved everything out of other rooms and swept them and cleaned them. Left chameleon and cage all setup in another room. Yes, I had to move the lights and the cage and the stand and the feeders and whatnot, but it was okay. I then took everything to new apartment. Only thing left in old place was the chameleon stuff. At the new place, I unpacked the truck and just set the furniture where it needed to go as I brought it up. The rest of the stuff went in a giant pile in one room. I then went back to the old apartment, put the chameleon in a small cardboard box, lined with a tshirt for cushion, a small branch running through the box for grip, and a small piece of paper towel wet with some water for a tad humidity. Air holes poked in box, and into the box the cham went. As he started to fall asleep in there since the box was dark, I just loaded up his cage and everything. Didn't have to take anything out of the cage because it was all going into the back of a moving truck (with the chameleon in the cardboard box up front with me of course, in a nice warmed up cab of the truck) By the time I was done with that, he had already stopped moving around and was sleepy. Locked place up, gave keys to leasing office, and off I went to the new place. Immediately setup the chameleon cage and everything for it and got it all misted. He went into the cage as soon as it was all setup at the new place, and I had to wake him from his nap in the cardboard box to get him to come out. He was only in there for about an hour though. Reason I moved him last, instead of first, is to avoid having to walk past him and over and over with furniture and my other stuff time and time again which could stress him out. I also didn't want to possibly knock over his cage or anything else of his on accident like bug containers and all. Wasn't looking to get an infestation on my first day.
I also didn't want to have the door open, door closed, door open, door closed with him already there (because it was the middle of Feb. and all, and that would lower the ambient temps in the apartment that I had set for him).Then I just organized that giant pile of stuff, little by little, over the next 5 days because I didn't want to do it all at once and cause a giant commotion around the apartment for my reptile. Personal preference on that I guess. Easy cheesy.
