I just read a post by kmakani and it was mentioned his cham has mouth rot. So I'm still fairly new to chams (I've had my veiled for 7 months, first cham) but what EXACTLY is mouth rot and how do chams get it? What can be done to avoid it?

Mouth rot or stomatits is actually a secondary infection brought on by something else. it could be stress, worms, parasites, etc.... so actually finding the source of it is a bit challenging from what i know of it, but if your cham ever does get mouth rot its a pretty easy fix, a wide spectrum antibiotic will usually knock it out, and you can always ask on the boards for more help. :)

Hey there. I was the one with Zeus and the mouth infection. He had an abcess that was drained and now will be on antibiotics for two weeks. It was found early on so the doctor said it will be easier to get rid of. He said it usually is due to diet and my chameleon needs more variety than my usual format. He said if the abcess isn't taken care of early on, they can get much worse with loss of teeth and jaw deterioration. I just noticed this two days ago. I'm sure there are other reasons for an abcess, but I will be working on a stronger variety of bugs for my guy.
