I know this forum is loaded with Chameleons owners who getaway for a weekend or night. My questions is what do you do with your chameleons when you are gone overnight or for the weekend?. That is one concern that I have before I purchase my Veiled Chameleon. My family and I getaway a couple times a year for a night away or a weekend away.

I just got my 1st 2 chameleons on Monday so have not come across that situation yet, but i am pretty sure you have to ask someone responsible to look after them, there is no other way around it, they need continuous care

The only time I would be concerned with a weekend get away would be when I'm dealing with babies.

If you're still concerned, buy a misting system with a timer and make a cricket cage that allows crickets to walk into the cage (there are a few threads on here how to make one, I can't remember what exactly they called it off the top of my head).

Mine are fine over weekends all the time. I feed mine every other day usually and reptiles can miss a day or two without any problems (food may not be as easily found in the wild). Just feed them before you leave and make sure they get a good drink. Overnight really shouldn't be a problem as you don't really do anything with them at night...

Water is most important

My chams are fed every other day when I'm home.
If going away for 4 or 5 days, the chams get fed daily for a few days beforehand and I fill their drippers, plus the automatic misting system waters them.
I also have someone come by to replenish their drippers and make sure the misting system is working as it should--just for peace of mind.
One thing you may not think of:
Whatever climate control you normally have going --like air conditioning or heat--should not be turned off completely or be set to levels that will allow your chams to overheat or freeze, if the weather becomes colder or hotter than usual.

I do it all the time. I have mine's mister on a timer connected to a huge 20 gal container of water, so I can be gone up to 5 days (if there's an emergency or something) and they still have water. Mine aren't babies any more, so they're fine not eating every day, or not eating for 2-3 days. But honestly, I wouldn't be worried leaving somewhere overnight and not feeding my 3-4 month old for one day. They'll be fine.

Thank you all for your comments. That puts my mind at ease and definately makes for an easier decision making. That was the only concern that I had with getting one. Thanks so much :D
