More pics of bearded dragon

Yay for beardies! She may be big but there's more of her to love! Have u ever weighed her to see her actual weight?
I've had my dragon for a few weeks now and she refuses to eat veggies also, and like you I offer her kale and collard greens everyday and it shrivels by the end of the day but man does she love her crickets!! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1345255106.129715.jpg

I know. I understand. I think sand is more natural and more attractive, but hey! When you get it there's always:

Don't forget to update us on here!! :)..

thanks stacey .. im super excited on my new bd, i have read that they need very little water, i plan to have a waqter dish inside though just in case. and how about the stories of subtrate? it was recommneded not to have any subtrates, yet i would particularly think sand would be nice, more of their habitat. and, i guess sand doesnt choke them to death .. what do you think? hes a young fella, trans hype red btw, at most a1 onth old ... and yes .. i am going to feed him with dubia just like my cham ! .a bit exp though ... i plan to use solar glow from exo terra, im not sure if that has enough heat .. any opinions?

I use sand and its fine she dosent eat any of it people say not to use sand but i have always used it without any problems it is messy tho when your taking your beardie out it gets e erywhere but i supose all substrates do so it dosent realy matter lol but as hes young i would use woodchip for a few months then put him in sand when hes a little bigger i use an exo terra reflector with a ceremic heat bulb (100watt) on a thermostat and at night use the moon glow bulb(15watt) but i did use the bulb you are talking about before i only stopped using it because it was light and heat and i have 2 strip lights one at the front and one at the back of the viv so it wasent realy needed but yer its fine to use yes provide some water for your bearded dragon but make sure humidity is not 60% or above ive recently removed all the water from my waterfall because it was abit humid i thought but i do make sure that my bearded dragon gets a bath every 2-3 days and sometimes just take her out of her viv and mist her so i dont need to have any water in there realy but its fine aslong as you check the humidity and bathe and mist more while shedding this will help his shed to go well without any problems and it should speed it up abit aswell.

I have not had her weighed i will look into that tho to get a better idea of how over weight she is lol and i agree i love her big round belly i think its so cute and i dont think shes affected health wise so i like her how she is and yours is only a baby she probably will eat her veg as she gets older mine is just stubborn and will not touch any fruit or veg except blueberry ocassionly she will have a blueberry but that is it lol i will always still provide the veg just in case.

stacey, crusader,

thansk for the info, appreciate it very much. im super excited, waiting for the time to come to bring him home .. like alittle boy waiting for christmas. I guess i wil ltake the advice you have given. I will be transferingmy chameleon into a bigger cage outdoors with more than 4 hour of sun. So the light will be unused, and was wondering if i can use the light source for the beardie. If i can do so, it will be perfect ! sand is what i will be using,, i will put his food into bowls so he wont eat the sand. and definitly will put a water dish for him. thnx for the advice. oh ya .. and frequent baths ...

What type of light is it?

I dont think you could actually take them for a walk but if the weathers nice you can take them out if you want just let them sit on you somewhere while you walk around lol i take mine in the car she dosent mind i also take her to friends houses with me sumtimes i always take a hot water bottle(not to hot!) with me incase she gets cold lol people think im a freak haha.

I love that! lol. I used to take Pascal on trips with me to the pet store to get his crickets sometimes lol, He'd eyeball the cricket lady the whole time.

When I took him to the vet I had him wrapped in a warm towel and some lady was like "ohh what have we got here??" and I pulled the towel down and she got all disgusted. I was like Uh do you see him judging you?? lol

Welcome!! Ask anytime and hm... Tropical (UVB) I'm assuming? The tropical UVB lights aren't as strong as the desert UVB light, don't give off as much UVB rays.. The deserts are more powerful.. But if you make an area for your beardie to get closer to the light kind of like a basking spot, sure why not. I don't see any harm there.

im not sure if its tropical.... but from the chart, it shows the highest output of UVA / UVB. It a little more expensive but i dont like tha idea of 3 different lights hanging down .. so i bought it. hehehe ...

and yeah .. i will be hanging off the lighs at a corner and an elevated basking spot so he can get the full spectrum of lights.

question .. how long before you change out the sand? from what i read, they are also solitary animal and shouldnt be kept with another male correct ?

You can walk them you just need a harness. And IMO I would never take my dragon out side and put him on the ground wih out one on him. They can run fast if they want to. And some birds won't think twice about picking it off right in front of you.

Ok lol i wouldnt do this tho i dont like the idea of her walking on the ground there could be anything down there.

I change the sand every month but most people do leave it for a couple of months should be fine and yes they do better on there own and should only be put together for breeding if you have a male and female together the chances are that the female will get bullyed by the male and bitten at the back of her neck where the spikes are and this can be quite bad so i would just keep your beardie on its own they do much better on there own but if u wanna see all the cool thing beardies do to each other then have 2 but in seperate vivariums and they will wave to each other and bob their heads this dosent usually happen if there is only one beardie.

ha . i see, thanks stacey i guess i will just concentrate with one then! . i was worried if he would get bored on his own ... but .. seems like they would live better alone i guess ...thanks !!! helped a lot.;
