Monsters of god documentary on HBO

I am interested about watching this documentary for import updates. About a decade and a half ago there was consistant news about illegal Reptile imports in the USA. The Reptile import scene since then appears to have done a lot of cleaning up in the USA. Europe Reptile imports is another matter.

I just finished the series. It doesn’t seem like things have improved. I agree with you about Europe. Just looking at the chams available there lets you know the illegal trade is still alive and well
I’m glad they are harder to get in the US. Makes me feel like at least something is working to slow the smuggling down
Good show 👍👍

I have got to watch this series.

Europe having got all the species to keep in the hobby is something to aspire too here is the USA. However making that happen has got to be done appropriately and sustainably (built to last).

I totally agree. When I look at Europe it can only be one of two scenarios in my small mind
Either there’s so much illegal imports, all of the species are available to anyone, or some of the most talented keepers are getting first access. Not sure which is better considering the smuggling part.
I want every sustainable species in the hands of people in our neck of the world that can care for them and reproduce them.

It was interesting to watch and sad in many ways too.

Saw a trailer for this when it came out, didn’t watch it yet though. I will say it seems like no secret that animal trades and criminal markets overlap. An interesting thing I’ve noticed in my years of the inner city and such, drug dealers tend to love exotic animals. Heck even Escobar had a zoo.
