moment of truth ?

still undecided ?

for those of you who have been watching, the second of the (5) micro-neonates died the other day, and only the strongest shows any real interest in food. the third isnt looking so good either, i was unable to post because of computer problems, if they are still alive tomorrow, i may try to gavage the weaker two, without it, it is almost for certain they wont make it. still undecided

Keep misting and feeding and thinking good thoughts. Are they getting natural light? I was lucky in that Chi's babies were born in the summer so they got natural light. The concern was keeping them hydrated and cooled. I think how I lost them was due to Ca++D3. It was when I started supplementing that they started having problems. I didn't know any better at the time, just what the pet store staff told me -- was not yet enlightened by the Cham forum. I so really appreciate this group.

Best to you. I am sure you are doing what you can.

they get low output uvb every day and get natural uvb every couple of days (when the sun hits the sw facing window screen , i usually put them on the screen for about an hr). they have gotten a one time ultra dilute dose of vitamin/supplement/ bug water/edit 2:25 am 02-15-10 despite having roach water hanging off of his chin most of the day,the third neonate has passed, the 4th looks like hes ready, the fifth looks like he might actually make it

Well best to you and yours. Keep us updated.

Are all Cham neonates difficult?

Am still keeping Chi-Chi and sir Sedge seperate.

difficulty of healthy neonates ?

i dont find xanth neonates of regular robust health difficult at all, of course there are always few that arent as healthy as the rest, and they can be quite challenging and heartbreaking. the runt from last years spring clutch just never grew at all. despite a vigorous nutritional campaign, he still weighs less than 5g, but he appears healthy and i am glad i kept him regardless of the extra work

People need to read this thread and others beforre they think about breeding. Its alot of hard work and sometimes heartbreak also. Then people complain about the price of a baby. Sorry don't listen to my rant. lol

light at the end of the tunnel ?

there is only one of the original 5 micro-neonates left. and it is active and eating so it might have a chance. it is still way undersize and very difficult to deal with, so only time will tell.

There would not even be one alive if they were with anyone but you John. We will just hope the little guy is meant to make it. Good luck.

So sorry to hear.:( As laurie indicates, if it makes it then it is due to your care and if it does not, it is not due to lack of care.
