Mitsios vs Ambilobe

It's not what other people prefer, its what YOU prefer :)

that being said, mitsio's are a lot harder to come by. You will have an easier time finding an ambilobe of any color

if you want something not many people have go mitsio but your going to have to do some work to get one. plus most are $650+.

exactly!
Really, you cant go wrong with either one. Both are fabulous
I personally dont care if something is less common - whether they are widely available or less available doesnt make them any less wonderful or more wonderful.

yupp yupp :) personally i like locale crosses. especially ones with ambanja or faly. i like bluish, purplish and greenish colors lol ^_^

With such a rare locale in the captive population I, personally, wouldn't cross a mitsio on purpose. I wouldn't even buy one if I did not intend to breed it. I think anyone who owns them should be working on increasing the captive numbers. Once they are better established in the US, then maybe do some crossing and keeping single animals as pets. That's my opinion of course.

Exactly Kara! We dont have that many at all here stateside, and half the ones here ended up being crosses anyway...
Theyre both beautiful locales, ambilobe have a wonderful array of colors, but mitsios have a wicked green/yellow x red combo that is flat out stunning!

trust me im working on breeding mitsio's. i have a pair but they are related so i cant breed them. so im looking for another worthy male for my female, sense females are crazy hard to come by. if i were to cross breed i would use my male mitsio with my female nosy be that my male nosy be has absolutely no interest in.

That makes sense, but the issue is more with information getting jumbled and people mistaking the animals for purebred animals (which would muddy the lines should it happen to someone who intends to breed.) It's easier to get captive populations going when there are fewer crossed animals.

Thanks for the replies. I'm in the uk, and didn't know they were so rare. The price is no more than I paid for my ambanja.

I think I will go with the Mitsio

:eek:damn you paid that much for an ambanja? are they hard to get over there? there like the cheapest ones here in the US.

no, she just means the going rate for nosy mitsios in the UK is just as cheap as ambanjas because they are a lot more common over there. bummer for us americans. gotta love that rhasta color scheme!

In the uk I've never yet seen a clean bloodline Ambanja so if yours is its well worth any amount of money, I would happly pay a small fortune for a unrelated pair of clean Ambanja over here in the uk

My Ambanja is Ambanja x Ankify, but as ankify is a suburb of ambanja I was told on here to count it as an ambanja.

What I mean is it's relatively cheap. I paid £130 for my ambanja which is $204 to you Americans. The Mitsio is £130 with delivery in person so I think it's a good deal!
