Is there anthing I could do to get rid of them.

Can I still use the existing fruit fly's to start new cultures or should I get rid of them all?

I don't know what to do these are the only cultures I have for my newborn Ambies.

I would get some mite paper to atleast contain them until you can get new starter cultures in. If conditions are right they can take off pretty quickly.

What exactly do the mites look like because not sure whether or not my culture has them.

They are little tiny white specs crawling around the side of the cultures. They are so tiny they are hard to see with the naked eye. Just keep the your culture still and sometimes you can see them crawling around.

Dont have a good enough camera to take pics of them sorry.

Not if they have mites, toss em and get a new culture/cultures to start over. Clean every thing with a 1 to 8 bleach mixture and get mite paper/mite spray. Good luck.

I dont think there is a way to kill the mites that would not also harm the ff's.

I have had to toss a few cultures because they had mites, and complained to the vendor.
They replaced the culture free of charge.

They are very tiny, and you may never know they are there unless you look for them with a magnifying glass!!

I have been told they do not harm the ff's or your pets.
