I just hooked my Mistking up yesterday. A couple of things/tips:
I had a leak on the bucket bulkhead. I think my 9/16ths hole was not completely square, so the connecter was very slightly off center tilted to one side. This prevented the nut from tightening properly and allowing the o-ring to seal. To fix, I placed a rubber 5/16ths washer on the outside. This allowed the nut to tighten better, and the o-ring to compress. When you drill that 9/16ths hole make sure the drill is as squared as possible (left/right & up/down all at 90 deg.)
Had trouble priming the pump. I thought by gravity the water would flow easily enough through the tubing to the pump. I was wrong. I had to hold the bucket a few feet above the pump to get it to prime. Now, I have the bucket on a stool which allows about an 8 inch drop from bucket to pump.
I mounted the top of my cage near the back right corner. I did not order any corner brackets at the time I ordered Mistking because the supplier I purchased from was out. I went to Lowes and got two rubber 5/16ths washers that are about 2 inches in diameter. Also I got 2 galvanized 5/16th washers. Would have rather had hard plastic or stainless steel but could not find any at Lowes. In any case, put one galvanized washer on the nozzle threads, then the rubber washer. Push nozzle threads up through the hole on the screen, and first put the rubber washer, followed by the galvanized washer. This setup made the nozzle connection very tight and wobble free.
Lastly, I got some sticky backed cable tie hold downs and put a few down the cage frame and dressed in my tubing and tie wrapped it securely. If you have loose tubing it will vibrate when the pump is on.
Things I want to do:
I want to find a smaller food grade bucket. The 5 gal pail is pretty big. Also, right now I am trying to find a good cabinet that I can hide the bucket and pump in, and place the cage on top of it. So far, have not found anything good. Right now the cage is on a nice decorative cabinet. I am worried the moisture may warp the surface. My wife will surely kill me if this occurs. This cute little Cham turned into a big deal with my setup, worrying about whether he is getting what he needs and so on. Also, had no idea I was going to have a bunch of "pet" crickets either. So... I have to make sure I don't ruin her stuff, don't want poor Archie to be blamed!
Good luck with the install.
