Misting system for Jackson chameleon

I have a misting system for my Jackson chameleon and it go's off every 2 hours for 12 seconds is that good or can anyone help me figure out a better one. I also have it on a timer so when the lights go out so does the mister should I leave it on.

Its going to depend alot on where you are geographically located.

In my opinion, you want at least three long sessions a day, with ample time to dry out in between.

I keep a pothos hung high up, have the mister hit the plant, so that the water rains down on the cage.

Since everyone's situation is different, you just sort of have to play with it. ;/

You definitely want thing to dry out in between mistings though. ;)

Jackson Misting System

I personally think it depends on your location and set up. My Jackson seems to be the least fussy of of my chameleons. I actually have my Jackson in a large Exo-Terra cage vs a fresh air cage. With my Jackson I dont use a misting system and he does have a water bowl. Obviously that sounds really bad but out of my Chameleons, he does extremely well. He actually is the most handle friendly out of all my Chameleons, and i have no problem letting him out and walking freely around my house. Most of the time he is content hanging out in a little tree i have for my Chameleons in my living room. So to answer your question, it all depends on your Jackson. They dont seem to be as sensative and stress prone as other types of Chameleons. So every two hours at 12 seconds maybe fine.

Welcome to the forums!

Everything about your post is contradictory to known jackson care.

Its downright lethal info in my opinion.

Just in case you are not trolling, I recommend posting your own thread, in which fill out the how to ask for help form found as a sticky in the Health forum.

My Jackson's was the thirstiest chameleon I had. He could drink a full 10 minutes or more in a single session!

He's the reason I started doing misting sessions of 20 minutes first thing in the morning and then 3-5 minute ones a couple more times the rest of the day. I'm not saying you need to mist that much but they certainly love water. 12 seconds is way too bare, in my book. I strive for no shorter than 3 minutes for humid-loving species.

I just bought a Jackson and hav e been hand misting, so happy to hear that may do the trick. If needed though I would buy a mister.
