Misting question

I have a three month old female Veiled and was wondering, when I mist should I just mist around her or should a get her too? I read in a book that misting her directly when the temp is above 78 can cause sickness. I have a fogger and a dripper besides misting and I see her drinking almost every day. I am just curious if I should try and get her a little bit to. Her temp during the day is in the low 80's at one end of her cage and around 95 in the basking spot if that helps to know.

Welcome to the forums Chris. I keep veileds and they are such a pleasure to work with. You need to get the heat down now or you are going to cook her. The basking shop should only be 80 or 81 tops. If your mist is very fine you can mist her a little too......not too much thought at 3 months. Foggers are not recommended for chameleons just misting and live plants will keep the humidity up for a veiled. I have a couple of blogs for you so that you can keep your new cham healthy. The first one is for new keepers and the second for females, that you will need in a couple of months because females can and often do lay eggs without a male even being around.

It will not hurt to get her wet. She may not like it but it will not harm her. If you hand mist, try using hot water in the sprayer. It should spray out warm. Just check it first before you spray. She will probably like that better than cold water. I would lower your temps. A 95 basking for a 3 month old is too high. Ideally you should try and get your cage temps in the 70's and your basking in the low 80 range. What is your humidity?

I will switch to a lower watt bulb tonight to bring the temp down for tomorrow. Her humidity stays right around 70 during the day. Not to sure about at night. I will be sure to check it in the morning before misting to get an idea. Thanks for the help.
