So i'm planning on buying a starter misting system for my chameleon and I am also planning on adding the Rain System attachment to it. What type of connecter should I buy for it and are there any other connectors/parts I should look into purchasing?

It should come with everything you need.

The system will shake the enclosure if you dont secure the tubing, and while there are many ways to secure it, the tubing clips make it very easy.
So you might think about adding some of those.

Mistkings "rain attachment" is just a nozzle, supported by tubing on top of the enclosure.

I made one for myself, and did not find it very useful, as it took up too much space on the top of the enclosure, and did not provide me with the results I wanted.

I just aim nozzles at foliage, that is placed high up in the enclosure (pothos vines/leaves) and the water drips down off of that, creating a rain effect.

Thats just what worked best for me though.

I attached the rain nozzle to the top of the inside of the viv by mistake. Didn't think to place on the top of the outside of the viv.lol Anyway it gives me an extra nozzle and sprays great.

The Aquazamp Raindome is a nice system and comes with all accessories. The only problem that I had with the dome itself is that it's too light and I had to weigh it down. The pressure from the hose topples it over. Easily corrected by placing something on top of the dome.

just do as explained earlier..point it towards the upper leaves (foliage) and you get rain and mist..

I just posted this in another thread. The other items I felt that needed to come with the kit.

With the MistKing kit you may want to get a few more items than what just comes with the kit. I learned the hard way and had to pay for shipping again to get the more items I need that I feel should come with the kit. It looks like they now have the optional starter kit but there is a couple more items I would recommend.

You may want to get a couple more Value 1/4 inch Elbows that way you can run the tubing around corners and not worry about crimping the tubing. Plus it looks a lot cleaner this way. You do not want the tubing to bend.

If you are not going to get the starter kit with the basic kit then you will want the tubing clips. This will allow you to fasten the tubing to the cage. This is important because if you do not secure down the tubing then it will annoyingly rattle which gets old. Securing down the tubing fixes the rattling and loud noise as Solid Snake said.

The Screen top wedge allows for the nozzle to be installed on the cage cleanly and securely. I highly recommend it. If you do not use something to help secure it down, and you just secure the nozzle through the screen then it could possibly tear the screen as it is not that well secured down. You could fab something but for about the same price they already have one pre cut.

You will also want the tubing cutter to cleanly make the cuts on the tube. If not you will need something really sharp to cut the tube cleanly and its important to make the clean cuts.

I agree with Solid Snake. I built a system similar to Mist King's and even had a rain nozzle. That had to go really fast. I now just have mist nozzles that work fine. My cham sits under one of them and lets it bead up and he drinks.

I just received my mistking today and it was very easy to setup. I bought the starter system and a Tvalve to run to my other cage. I hardly had any shaking from the tubing but I did use some zip ties in a few locations where the tubing was loose and it's really quite now. I can finally go away for a night and don't have to worry about hand misting anymore. This is a great misting system and I even saw my cham under it drinking from the mist dripping off the leaves. I ended up putting a aquarium water heater in the 5 gallon bucket and so far my water has been staying around 86 degrees so the cold water in morning wont be a shock to my chams first thing. I do have it set to come on 30 mins after the light's come on so it gives them time to wake up.

I've read about this idea before but have read conflicting things about bacteria growing with the high temperatures when using the heater. Have you had any problems so far?

Provided the water in the resevoir has already been through a RO system or filter there shouldn't be enough bacteria present to breed enough to cause problems. I use a very similar system, with a good quality filter and have had no problems with any of the critters the system sprays (5 critters in four vivs).

There are in-line heaters that can heat the water as it passes through the tubing. It is my understanding that this is the better option, though I have no experience using them.
