so this isnt really about the "free range" so much as me being super exciting about my cham actually using it. - crappy pics at the end though!
basically maybe 5 or 6 days ago i sort of made a tree - i took the stand of a fan and then i put a medium sized branch into it and then i took some fake leaves and attached that to one of the lumbs and then i took a bendy vine and i filled in a few spaces. then i took a spare dome i had and put a bulb it and hung it over one of the taller branches.
so ive had this sitting near his cage the whole time and i ahve it connect with a sort of bendy cable thing (used to store cables and what not). i actually took him out and place him on the the little "tree" a couple days and then i would take him and put him back in the cage (the door is usually open when im in the room) - he started to really dig it a few days ago and then last night he just.. climbed on over by himself and climbed right back into his cage.
today i just saw him do it again except for he stayed a lot longer. man it was just.. so cool to see him actually doing something. waching him kind of scope out the spot and then go for it. its cool to just see him kind of.. basking out in the open. it was a really rewarding feeling i guess?
anyways, here are some super crappy pics but youll get the jist of it.
so here he is from today after he got up there by himself (i know you cant really see him but you can see his spot)
here is a sort of side shot where you can see the "vine" that he can travel on if he wants to. he has to travel probably like 2.5 feet or so across it.
and here is a shot of what it kind of looks like with out the cage in the background (he isnt on it in this shot)
thanks for looking. like i said this was more about me being happy he was using it willingly/ by himself more than the set up. i know its not very fancy - but i dont recall anyone else using a telescoping stand from a fan to make a tree! so maybe thatll give someone an idea. simple but effective. wanted to post this thread in general but it has to do with an enclosure of sorts so i wasnt sure
also, he has been traveling around his cage a bit more now too so thats pretty fun.
