Hi,

I have a Veil Chameleon named Milli, we got her in December of 2010. As of today she has not laid any eggs, is this normal. I have put her in a tub of peat moss several times and all she wants to do is climb back out. I have not taken her to the vet yet, should I be doing this. We feed her good and she is a good size. She loves to come out and walk around the house, she is so happy. I am just worried about her becoming egg bound.

Anyone with comments or concerns, I would love to hear what you have to say

Thanks

Is there reason to suspect she has eggs? I mean she is not going to dig unless she has eggs to lay. Has she stopped eating, gotten noticably fatter? Has her coloring changed? If she does have eggs, I would use something else for her to dig in other than peat moss. A 12 X 12 trash can filled with moist washed play sand is what is recommended. Make sure it can hold a tunnel without collapsing. Just keep it in there at all times. As far as I know not every female will lay. Overfeeding is said to lead to egg production. That and higher temps. If you have not overfed her since you had her, then maybe that is why. How often and what does she eat? If she did get fullof eggs and she did not lay, then yes you would have to take her to a vet to try and induce her to lay with a shot or they may have to be surgically removed. Also, are you 100% she is a girl?? lol She will not have the spurs on her back feet if so! You would not be the first person to find out that Milli is a Milton! ha!!

she has been digging a lot and likes to come out of her cage and walk around. She isnt showing any lumps and her colors have not changed. We feed her crickets with calcium in the morning and about 2-3 butter worms at night. She seems to be very healthy! She does not have spurs on her back legs, we are pretty sure she is a female
