Mildew removal?

I've heard that you can make a paste out of baking soda and water and then scrub away at the mildew, then you can use white vinegar to get rid of the white stains from the baking soda and then wash it with water afterwards.

I'm thinking @opheliaeatsbugs is right. I was hoping there was some way I could soak it safely. The hose is only a month old and I didn't want to buy a new hose every month. On the other hand, there's no way I'm going to be able to get all the residue of anything out of that collapsible hose.

I think it's awesome to try to salvage/clean certain items, but IMO this just isn't one of them lol 1) who's got time for that? my time is more valuable then trying to fight with a dumb hose 2) how could you be sure the mildew was 100% removed from the accordion hose?

Do they come in a non-accordion style? or a work-around? I'm curious because I'll need to replace mine at some point, too.

You and I are on exactly the same page with this! The hose that came with it doesn't fit correctly anyway, and a smooth hose wouldn't harbor mildew in the first place. Looks like a trip to Lowe's is in my immediate future.
