How to clean mister bottles?

I have an Exoterra mister for my chameleon and recently noticed some algae build up start to form. The bottle opening that connects to the sprayer lid is pretty small and I don’t really know if there’s any way that I can really scrub the inside of the bottle. Any recommendations for cleaning / removing algae??

Algae can grow if the water stays exposed to light during the day. You might consider painting the bottle a dark color, but you wouldn't be able to check the water level as easily. Maybe make some sort of dark colored sleeve to put over it (black plastic bag?). Algae is one reason I use opaque or dark colored buckets for water storage. As for cleaning, flushing the bottle and lines regularly with a dilute bleach solution will discourage algae growth. Can't tell what diameter the connectors or openings are, but there are very small-sized bottle cleaning brushes/"pipe cleaners" available. Check aquarium suppliers or Amazon for ideas:
