Mercury Vapor Bulb

I know this is like beating a dead horse, and I know everyone is saying use reptisun 5.0 18" or 24". I have been using a Mercury Vapor since day one with both of my Chameleons. Veiled and Nosey Be. They are both very healthy and i have not had any problems with them. They supply both heat and UV. Has anyone had any problems withe them? Any objections to using these bulbs?

I use 100 watt T-Rex myself. Yes I have Mitsios Ill pm you so nobody gets upset about talking about this subject here.

How long will this bulb last you, using it for 12 hours per day? I'm thinking of making a switch to this in the near future, since I use a combo of reptiglo 10.0 with 2.0. Id probably save money in the long run this way I'd think...

you just want to make sure that your cham is getting UVB and not just UVA.

T-Rex 100 w

I tried all the major brand names the T-Rex works the best and last the longest. the only time I need to replace them is when they burn out. The 100 watt works in my house during the winter months when the air temp is in the mid 60's. I would go with a stronger bulb if kept in cooler conditions. Its hard to say how long they last because I move everybody outside during the warmer months.They last a long time thats all I can say and I haven't had any problems with the T-Rex but I have with other brands.

I could swear I've seen a significant change in my veileds color after switching to a t-rex MVB. Saves me energy and space. My herp vet swore by them.

well i used the first one for 6 months then i was misting and water just touched it and it exploded and now im on my second for about 6 months. they put out A and B. besides being energy hoggs they seem to be great.

125 Watt Solar Glo Exo Terra

I'm using 125 watt solar glo mv bulbs on 2 of my chameleon cages and I'm really happy with the price and the heat that it emits not to mention the uv. The 125 watts is good heat for my chameleons in the winter that I wasn't getting with 100 watt bulbs. Please use responsibly read all direction before use.

I use a Reptisun MVB 100 watt for my veiled. Seems to work great from what i can see. I have had no ill effects from using this.

i just bought a 18" hood and 18" exto terra sun glow 5.0 is this good or should i switch when i get my boy a new cage?

5.0 is fine just need heat now.

I've heard something on TV about a lady who broke one and it cost 3000 dollars to clean out her house of the mercury. Thats the only problem I have heard and now I stay away from anything mercury vapor like the energy saving lights. Its a little hard to do because i am a chemical engineering major and chemistry double major at my college.
