What kind of temps would the highs be? This would be my primary concern. I highly recommend checking out www.melleridiscovery.com if you haven't already. It provides all the information needed to successfully raise these guys. This is what the site says about adult melleri temps:
It stays below 90. Due to the size of the space and plants housed out there, it really never gets above 87 degrees. I have gone to the link you attached, many, many times. It is truly a wonderful resource. My hope is to allow him to "free range" out there. It seems to meet all of the requirements, and I think he will be much happier. I rescued him from a really gross pet store in LA. He was living there in a 20 gall tall glass aquarium. I purchased the largest screen cage avail. and he has done great in there. I just think he needs even more room.

Sounds like a great idea to me then. Great to hear of your familiarity with Melleri Discovery 
From what I understand with these giants the more space the better. I have know keepers in FL who successfully keep them outside, but with the high temps here I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Here's what my father built on his porch for me to keep my Melleri in over the summer. Now it is being converted for their veileds:
Here's more of what we've got going on now, with condo style living (with the addition of another live plant)
