Meet Draco

he meant that waterfalls are not recommended as they can produce bacteria and most chameleons to not drink from standing water. I think he also meant, misting and dripper for means of hydration.

This is exactly what I meant lol thanks carol. I'm on my phone so I forget punctuation a lot. Sorry about that.

He fits right In. Even my pup and Draco get along. Super curious about each other. Draco even decided to climb on him last night and they have touched Noses a couple of times. When I get home to feed and must him Dixie (my mild mannered chihuahua is right there waiting to say hello too. View attachment 70125

Does your cage sit on the floor all the time? I know it's a small cage but for less stress on him, Put the cage high up, he should be high up as he will feel more secure that way and less stress.

My cage is 48" high and sits on a 28" corner fish tank stand, so he is very high up. He sit's on the top branch, i'm 5'7 and where he sits is just above my head lol

He's on the floor for now. Deciding weather To put him in my sons room or on the credenza in the living room. We've only had him a few days. I was gonna put him in my sons room but he really seems to like attention so I think the living room is better. He comes out willingly and enjoys climbing all over us.

Good news. Pet store is goons let me return it sadly it will have to wait till Wed. They close before I get off work tomorrow and are gonna be closed for new years. Should I just put him in a box while I exchange his enclosure? It would probably be at least 45 min for me to take it to the store, get the replacement, bring it home and get it set up.

Ladybones stated many things I wanted to say (I agree with your cham being older then 5 and a half months as well).
Just wanted to quickly add a word on supplementing.
Calcium w/o D3 can be done 5-6 times a week
Calcium w/ D3 once every 2 weeks
MultiVitamin once every 2 weeks
I'd get on the supplementing pretty quick since I can see some slight bone curving on his right front arm in the christmas photo and his veil looks a little wonky (Veiled's should have strong and straight veils when properly supplement).

Also, my veiled is 4 months old and he eats up to 30 crickets a day, however as they grow older they will not require so many. So don't be alarmed if your cham is not eating as much, because to me he looks visibly older then 5 and a half months.

Otherwise I think you have a good general idea on how to care for a chameleon and I welcome you to the forums. Keep it up and I'm sure everything will go along smoothly :D

Is this what your referring to when you say wonky veil? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356921088.412992.jpg

Here is a few more pics that show off his color a little better. I'm holding hi
in these ones. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356921150.788280.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356921165.336031.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356921188.258742.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356921201.955666.jpg

Also, I think it's great that you're not giving up on him just because he has some issues! :) Sounds like he'll be well loved in your family's care! :)

Yes that is what I meant. It just shows that he does have signs of MBD, as well as his legs. But like Carol said, it can be stopped. His limbs will never straighten but they can be halted at where they stand. His MBD isn't too terrible. We've definitely seen worse cases on here and those chameleons have managed to survive and though they have disfigures, they are very healthy. Once again, take note as to what Carol had to say. Supplementing is key! Vet's are always a good option however it can be pricey. If you get onto supplementing right away I have high hopes that your chameleon will be fine. Especially if he is still climbing around and eating at his current state.

He is. He seems happy as a clam. I've already been supplementing with calcium. Will pick up the kind with D3 and a multi vitamin on Fri (payday). Calcium without just about everyday and the other two twice monthly? I am havin trouble keeping it light. It seems like there is none on them or they are ghosts! Workin on getting the right balance of dusting.
