Hey guys I hate to say it but my male veiled has a small case of MBD how should I start treating it??

UVB UVB UVB. take him outside to get natural sunlight. dont over supplement him... it can be just as bad as not supplementing at all. though to figure out the details please fill out the general basic setup or copy and paste it from a previous thread. it will help a lot. and there are people on here who will know more things you can do right now to help him.

Alright thanks. I meant more along the line of whats in my future for helping him? He is out side right now.

awesome, i know there are more things to do, i just dont know them. there is a sticky at the top of the health clinic with pages and pages about MBD. check that out.

cantgetagoodsn...you can provide all the UVB you want to and it won't correct the MBD if you don't give the chameleon calcium to go with it to re-build the bones. Until things are back in balance it needs more calcium than it will need once the problem is corrected.

The quickest way to get it back on track is to get a vet to give it calcium injections until its blood calcium levels are high enough to give it a shot of calcitonin to draw the calcium rapidly back into the bones.

In the meantime you can give it a liquid calcium like calcium sandoz or calcium gluconate which is more readily absorbed than the powders.

Did it get the MBD under your care or did you receive it that way? just wondering how it might have gotten it. Are you positive it has it? Can you post some pictures?
