I adopted a almost one year old female veiled cham from a buddy a couple of weeks ago. She looks to have signs of MBD but the previous owner said he was giving her calcium. She seems kinds weak in her front legs but is doing alot better. How often do i need to dust her food, i know i need to give her calcium without d3 every feeding and then the d3 twice a month but how much do i give her each feeding. Here is some pics of you legs :( i feel sorry for her. She is a sweetie though.

She also looks to be a bit dehydrated. Do you have adequate water methods set up? I would hope you also get some advice from some experts in dealing w/ MBD. She might need some addition attention right now. Do you have any good chameleon vets around you?

Poor girl most def has MBD. I would first take her to the vet and have her tested for parasites. They will prescribe any medicine needed. What i do when i dust is take a little pinch full and put it in a cup. Then in goes the feeders like crickets, dubia, or worms. then i shake it all around so that they get evenly coated. thats it. Hope you give her a better home then the last. Also what is your set up. She needs a new UVB bulb every 6 months. 5.0 or 10.0 depending on your set up. Im sure others will chime in. Im no vet. I just like keeping animals healthy.

Welcome to the forums. Poor little girl. :( I am glad that you gave her a home and are trying to improved her condition. I really think she needs a vet visit with a good reptile vet that knows chameleons. She definitely needs liquid calcium. Their body absorbs the liquid better and they get more benefit from it. The vet can also give her a shot that with draw the calcium to the bone faster.

I'm attaching a few links below with some helpful information for you. The first is about MBD.

She has a 2 week old 5.0 uvb light and a basking light that is showing 81 degrees on her basking spot. I also have a dripper setup and have been misting her cage good 3 times daily and even setup a humidifier next to her cage that comes on every 4 hours and her humidity is staying around 65-70. Lights are on a 12 hour cylce also. She also has live mass cane/pothos combo in her cage. I have been feeding her crickets and super mealworms every other day.

You might want to check out the mega ray bulbs which are used by vets to help mbd. I read the research on these bulbs and I think in her case it would be beneficial. There is a thread on here under the mbd sticky about a Cham that had horrible mbd and the megaray vendor got her out a bulb ASAP. I use them, they are about 45 bucks and worth every dime. I read everything about the reptizooms and the megarays and went with megaray after reading about their use in severe mbd cases and their aid in recovery. The owner will even email you or let you call him to tell you which bulb to use for your enclosure. I love them. Those pics break my heart. They are hard to look at. Best wishes.
