I found one of my mama dubia roaches with what looks like a pretty severe intestinal prolapse and there is literally no research for fixing in the inverts. So I am currently relying on reptile treatment with sugar water. I put 1/8 of a cup in a huge bowl with her and added a little bit over 1/4 of a teaspoon of sugar to it.... does that sound right? I have never needed to treat a prolapse before in reptiles at all, so any advice would be great.

If it was a long, ridged object a bit like a corn cob then that's her developing babies. The female will leave them hanging out like that, but I can't remember why.

It's not, they leave the ova like that so they can turn it and air it out. I had to feed her off. She had an intestinal prolapse and it was slowly getting worse, it would have burst soon. Fed her to my blue tongue skink.

Sadly I would have done it last night but anyone who was large enough to eat her was asleep. So last night I was just hoping to either fix it or keep her going.

No, a lot of people don't see them that way in the reptile or invert keeping hobby if they are feeders. A feeder is like cattle. Whenever someone says that I want to say, thank God you aren't raising my food

I was actually thinking that today while I was picking out feeder roaches. I was thinking about how strange it is that I actually feel bad about feeding them off!!! All these wonderful reptiles have turned my world upside-down!!!

I treat all my feeders like pets, I feel like taking great care of my feeders is just one more way I can take great care of my reptiles!!

No, I am not attached to any of my 5 kinds of roaches! Wish I did not have to deal with them!!!

I only ask because it seems like you were going to extremes to save a roach. I figured maybe you were into them because I know you dig your inverts.

Oh I definitely love my roaches, I spoil them, I treat them better than most people would treat any feeder. I treat all my feeders like that though, but I also have to do some pretty horrible things to my feeders to make sure my other animals eat. It's the way life works.
