Very nice...I hope I don't end up kicking myself for not starting a Masoala breeding project when I had the chance. He is really a cool unique Cham that is for sure!!

I was about to post the same comment. He looks like pics Ive gotten of Nosy Borahas that were going to come in this yr. Do you have any females for him?

Yea... With the Masoala don't they have a much less defined set of maroon bars... Almost like a horizontal blotch of maroon across their body... The Nosy Boraha panthers are the ones with the maroon BARS.... I'm a tad confused myself

EDIT: STILL a GORGEOUS cham :)

EDIT EDIT: Every picture I find also show's Masoala panthers with a feint blue as a tint across the top spine into the face... It's the Nosy Borahas that show grey bodies more

Hes a Masoala. Sometimes they get called Cap Est? Hes still got a few sheds to go before he shows his true colouration, as i said, he is a WC and came in only a few months ago. From what ive seen, Nosy Boraha are more grey with bluish grey stripes. Theyre pretty ordinary looking. These fire up a brilliant white with Blood red barring. Also, when relaxed they do show a hint of blue. Dont forget, not every chameleon locale looks exactly the same, Take nosy be, tamatave, ambilobe and nosy mitsio, they all have a great degree of variation in there colouration.

On here! there was a thread a while ago when someone asked what they were, a few people piped up saying cap est. ill try find it.

Theres an ad on Kingsnake right now for some sub adult Masoalas. They dont look anything like your guy. Check em out. Sorry I cant get this to link to that ad for some reason?

How recent did he come in and do you trust your supplier? I ask because he looks very fat and well-taken care of for a recent wc; no scars, missing spikes, etc.

Thanks, ill take that as a compliment to my husbandry then!! I got him over 3 months ago. He came in a shipment 4 or 5 moths ago, got wormed etc and hydrated before he came to me although rather skinny looking and very dirty. I trust my supplier completely, hes never let me down before. He does have scars, just hard to see in the pics. hes also extremely shy, almost like he has been bullied by older/mature chams. He shys away from my 1 year old Ankify when i try to get him fired up. It seems he brightens up slightly when i feed him. When i got him he was 218g, hes now over 258g and still growing!

Yeah, i did a lot of research before i bought him. It seems there are a few variations on the colour, some look similar to sambava, some look like my guy and others have blue and red barring. This is a bit of a problem finding compatable females. I can only pray that they both came from the Cape East part of the Masoala Peninsula as i was told. Masoala is a large area!

Ok because the ones Charlie has def look more like a sambava cross than anything. That answered my question. Love your male man. Hope you can find him some gf's.;)

It may not be a cross mate, like i said, Masoala is a large area with a few colours there one of them being more like sambava. The cape east is a very small area in masoala, thats where my guy came from. I have a female for him, just waiting for her to fully mature before i breed, plus she may be gravid at the moment, infertile though im afraid. I darent put them together yet as he is 258g+, she is just over 50g now!!! lol

No man you misunderstood me. What I was trying to say was that from his pics the ones for sale looked like a sambava crossed with something. I dont think they are crosses though. Just look like strange sub adult sambavas. Ive bought from Charlie before and he usually has good stuff and correct info on his incoming imports.

Thats a big boy! My biggest male is a mitsio. And he's still nowhere close to 258. Hes only about 195. That guys a beast. He'd scare the crap outta that little 50g girl. lol

Yeah, it definitely is a compliment. I was thinking it had just been a month or less since he came in so was thinking things didn't look quite right. As to the "locale" thing....I agree with what TPM is saying about how your guy doesn't quite fit the Masoala look we think of. If he's really from Cap Est, and since it's just barely on the Masoala Peninsula, I would think being more specific and calling him/them by that name might be more appropriate. And make them more uncommon. ;)

Thanks Kent. Both myself and my wife have worked very hard with him to get him in shape. He gets more and more beautiful as the weeks go by. Its hard to call him a Cap Est as over here in Europe they were named Masoala so that is how we see them, white and red. I think the more typical Masoala look gets mistaken for Sambava. Ive never seen them over here though, and ive only seen 3 like mine. I have a 1.1, my friend has 1.3 and a guy from belgium had 1.0 but not sure if he has him anymore. His was the most stunning 1 of seen though!!! you can see his at pardalis.be
