Maple branches and "fake" flowers from Michaels

Hi,

I'm getting a new baby this weekend and I am working on the enclosure.
I need to know a few things first though :)

I found maple branches at my neighbors house (inticed b/c they had a sign that said "FREE") and I was wondering if I could use them in my new babys house?

I also bought brightly colored "fake" flowers from Micheals, to make the cage prettier and brighter, and was wondering if this was ok??? Never tried it with Pascal, but he loved bright colors, so I wanted to try.

Plz respond! I'm working on the cage now!

Thanks in advance!:D:D

Maple might be a little sappy. I'm not sure. Baking it shoukd make it all good. But fake flowers are good. I wash em just incase but ive used em.

Awesome! I've never baked branches before, how would you go about that? Awesome! I'm glad about the flowers :) Makes it prettier in my room lol

there is no need to bake your branches. that will just burn them. If they are freshly cut, they will still have a lot of moisture still in the core of the branch. If you cant stand the smell or prefer branches that weigh less, sit them out under the sun so they can dry up.
You should just take off any sharp edges or pokey parts and wash or brush it off.
No need for bleach or any cleaners either.residual cleaners left to soak in onto the branch can kill your cham because itll eventually lick it.

Oh okay. I did end up baking them, to be on the safe side. I debarked them first (I lovee white wood), and baking them gave them really cool stained grain, Like reverse of normal grain. I sanded them down really good and the terrarium looks really nice IMO :D I washed them with antibacterial hand soap, just very lightly. I just read this thread after or I wouldn't have done the baking.

Around here we have hobby lobby (similar to Michaels) they sell long bunches of vines and the best part is every other week they're half off. I use them in all of my baby bins.
