Mantis breeding

Snapped a picture of this female making a new ooth. She has laid 6 cases for me this year, and only eaten 2 males in the process.

That's just awesome, Steve!

I know I have always wanted to be Chris A.'s understudy, but if you ever needed one, Chris will just have to take a back seat. :D

And here's what happens a little later in this life cycle. I really like the fact that I can raise a renewable food source. Had three cases hatch this morning. Panther, and Hoehnelii babies where loving the change in menu this morning.

I love it! I didn't have any ooths hatch this year - I got all duds. Last year I had them coming out of my ears!

Great job, Steve! :D

What species of mantis is that? Those nymphs are so much larger than the ones I hatched out earlier this year. Those look to have some actually visible body mass on them.

I've hatched out egg cases I've found, but never considered breeding! Way to go! What food supply do you use for the tiny ones?
