Mango

Hi, this is my first post. I have a 3.5 year old female veiled named Mango. She's pretty chill and seems to love life! She gets excited when she sees food and she opens her mouth and starts swaying. Its really funny. She'll eat just about anything. I even feed her fruit from time to time. Here are some pics.

Gorgeous girl!
You're obviously doing things right.
Would love to hear some husbandry specifics.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I keep her in a 2'x2'x4' cage from LLL Reptiles. I have a Hibiscus and Schefflera for plants. She really likes the Hibiscus and loves to take bites out of the flowers. I think the hardest part of owning her is keeping that damn plant alive! I have a repti-sun 5.0 for UVB and another florescent tube for the plants and then a basking bulb. I have to hand mist her daily because i'm a broke college kid who can't afford a misting system. Some day though... When i feed her I rarely dust the food. I've heard that if the food is properly gut-loaded there isn't much need for dusting. Anyone with any insight on this? And other than that I just try to stimulate wild behavior to keep her happy. Like free ranging crickets and sometimes ill put her in front of the bathroom mirror so she sees her reflection and gets defensive.

Welcome Day Man. I use the same dusting schedule as most people but I use very very very little. I to am for great gutloading and variety instead of relying on dusting unless my female is carrying eggs. I am interested in hearing what you gutload with. For my crix I use cricketfood.com and for silkies and hornworms I get the premade stuff. I actually just got some bugs in the mail today and finished watching a few hornworms explode hahaha I love watching them eat those things.

Haha thats awsome. Where do you order your bugs from? I use the cricketfood.com gutload also. I still have some WER gutload from before they quit selling it and sometimes ill use that too. I think its still good?!

Lots of people here use the cricketfood.com gutload. I also use all different veggies and fruits with the mix. Mostly dandelion, carrots, kale, kelp, and collards. I order my bugs from mulberryfarms.com . This is the first company i tried to use and so far they have been great so I feel no need to try a different one although there are a few out there.

Yes I also use phoenix worms regularly I always forget about those little boogers though haha. These are a very good source of calcium. One thing I have read on posts about them is you need to prick them with a needle or something first because of the tough exoskeleton unless you know that they chew them really well first. Are you a cock rockerhaha. The reason I ask is your avatar pic. I love cock rock.

hahaha. I get down on some pretty cheesy rock. But it's from the TV show "Its always sunny in Philidelphia"

Hahaha cool. They kinda look like well I hate to say look like punks for my thoughts on that arent looks but. I love some cheesy metal. Mostly into death, black and thrash.
