Managing 500 live crickets+worms...

Hi there,

So my almost 500 live crix arrived today. This is my first order, until today I always bought them in the local pet store for horrible price.
Can anybody give me good advice how to "pour"them from the box in my container simply and effective?
The other thing, that I ordered silks, horns and butterw.too and they are waaay too big for my about 5 month old veiled. I ordered medium size (this was the smallest)of them (there were no exact sizes and I was so excited about getting G his first these kind of worms that I forgot to ask the size). Now unfortunately I have to try to sell them.
Or I might give a try and cut them up small peaces and will see how he likes that.
Oh gosh today for the first time in his life I tried one smaller silk and my heart almost stopped and I was sweating like....He almost choked I believe. It was terrible so never ever until I think he is ok with them. Which is unfortunate, 'cause he can't hunt them. :(
Anybody tried cutting up a worm and feed the cham?

Thank you!

I just open the box, flip it over and knock them into the bin. Sometimes this doesn't work and I have to brush them out. There ends up always being quite a few stragglers! Especially in the creases of the box.

Thank you happiness! That's what we did yesterday. Two escaped ( hopefully only two :)) but we caught them. Might with the time we can figure out something. :) How big silks and horn do you give to a approx. five months old? I know the"space between their eyes" rule. But I see how big are the mediums, smalls can't be very small either. Can they?

You can put the crix in the fridge for about 5 minutes before you open the box into the bin; I put the box on its side in the bin, then slice open the tape, open the box then tip it upside down, shake it hard as I lift it out of the bin. The width of the worm is what matters not the length, especially since they are soft bodied. My panther can easily eat medium worms.

The fridge method is awesome. I used to take my crickets and the tank into the bathroom, and pour them into the tank that was sitting in the bathtub. That way I could easily scoop up any escapees. I've never tried cutting up a worm before, but I know the feeling of getting feeders too big for your cham. Get a bearded dragon, they are good feeder clean-up crews :D
