Male veiled digging

Franklin dug up half the soil in his potted plant about an inch and a half down. Has anyone seen this before? Is this normal behavior sometimes, or something to be alarmed about?

hi there

alot of the times it could be hes too hot so hes headed down to get cooler and the digging could be him trying to get out
this is what someone has told me when mine does it mine recently digs and moves alot of the soil around

I would cover the soil with river rocks too large for him to ever get them in his mouth.

Usually digging is a sing of wanting to lay eggs, but I am going out on a limb here and saying your male is not going to lay eggs.

yeah I need to put bigger rocks in there, b/c right now they are just aquarium rocks
