Male panther chameleon not eating

I didn't read this before but I took him in shower with me on a plant. Seemed to enjoy it jumpy at first. Flying insects how should I get them? I was going to try bug paste. 5.0 cool that's what am using now. Temps I have been watching 8 inches from heat bulb I put the probe right under heat bulb 8 inches away. 86-90.5 readings I been getting and humidity in 30's. How long should I keep him outside on a blue sky day. The past few days white sky and humid. I mean how long outside where it will benefit him. Tougue is still working because the dripper is on top of screen and he tougues it for water. It looks purple his Tougue.

Any advice on how to get a female veiled to use laying bin. I use a flower pot 12" deep and 8" width the top. I used organic top soil peat and sand it said. I made a tunnel almost two inch round for her. But she just poops on top of pot. The past few days she has stopped eating. I don't know if it's because I ran out of Dubia her favorite. PayPal paying with just a credit card won't take my card tells me to try another when my debit card is all I got. I made a PayPal account tryed to verifie the account but won't send two amounts to my account to verifie it. I hate PayPal but without it can't get these feeders. That and am 100% no good at a dubi colony lol. Sure would help me out lol.

Along with hydrating him better and getting a new light you need to put a divider between the two cages. They are probably stressing each other out from being able to see each other. Your female probably wont lay her eggs with him right next to her and he could also be feeling threatened by her and that is why he isnt eating. The basking temp is a bit low too. Can you take him out for natural sun any? That is the best for them. The more you can take them out the better.

Divider? What would work to divide? That doesn't make any sense because wouldn't be like chat buddies or flirting friends. What would be best for basking temp if mine aren't correct. Yes I can get him outside for a least a half hour till the temps move closer to winter. Cool I see thanks and hand misting is fine right because I looked up a mistking and can't afford that now. But don't think mistking works with zoomed reptibreeze cages with what I can see.

Definitely put something up between them. The female can actually become so stressed from being able to see him that she wont lay her eggs and becomes eggbound. That will most likely result in her death without vet care. The male can also stress from being able to see her and stop eating as a result.

EDIT: As for paypal, try linking it to your bank account.

I took care of dividing the two cages with a white towel. Wait for improvement hopefully. I tried linking my account but verifie process they supposedly send you two payment amounts. It's been a week now nothing there and tried it again still nothing. I will be giving them a call. Like I said I wished my colony was successful.

i just came upon this thread--

i'm glad to see that you separated their views; that is the first thing that stuck out to me as something that could certainly adversely affect both of them.

if that vet is willing to see beardies and geckos, they should still be very accurate in a physical exam. there are differences in husbandry between the species, but an oral infection is an oral inection in all animals, weight loss hapens in the same areas, MBD affects them similarly, blood is taken from the same veins, etc.

he needs to have good eyes on him. if they can't be excellent eyes, so be it. let them be good ones and take him to the out of state vet. 99% of the advice you have received so far is good general advice but may not pertain at all to something a vet can see or palpate in 10 seconds.

finally, at the least i would strongly recommend raising his ambient temperatures day and night 5-10°, and give him access to natural sunlight (no glass/plastic) for just 15 minutes at least every 24-48 hours. those 2 things alone will kick his immune system into overdrive which is something that he needs right now.

Ambient temperature that is the overall air temp right not basking temp. Wanted to make sure. I raised his basking temp to 100f because I was told to. 15 mins I can do that does it matter condition of the day. Humid cloudy you know uv rays vary day to day. Thanks am holding the best for him. Hopefully turns out that way will see.

how about; all temps that you previously had, raise them all by 10°.

direct sun/screened sun is fine as long as he can get away into the shade if he wants to. but typically he's not going to overheat in 15 minutes in your type of weather.

i've used my UVB meter on cloudy days and read zero, or maybe 5 or so. that's compared to 370+ on a bright sunny day in Florida. so cloud cover seems to make a pretty big difference. however, clouds vary too, so our clouds may be much thicker than your thinner overcast skies. can't know without a meter.

I raised the bask temp to 100F with previous using a 75watt and now 100watt thanks. I had him outside for about 20 minutes and crawled around and chilled in a japanese maple. Makes sense and wont be taking him outside on cloudy days why bother lol. With a male panther cham after a bowel passing what is a pink looking thing that comes out a bit?

FYI, Your cham can still get those beneficial UVB rays on cloudy days...

I have been having the same problem with my 8 m.o. boy. He just doesnt have the desire to eat. He barely poops. I offer crickets, silkies, hornworms, and i used to give him supers but he got too obsessed. He will only eat like 1 silkie every other day

very similar to my problem zubi. I been taking my cham outside evryday day this week. no improvement and i'll remember that on cloudy days just didn't want it to be a wast for my boy.

this needs some clarification apparently. just like maxxtu and i said, UVB can be had on cloudy days, it just depends. not all clouds are the same nor everyone's reative distance from the equator. i know i'm not the only one here who has gotten tan or even burned on a cloudy day!

however, using a meter allows me to know and not guess. sometimes i have read zero; that's not likely to give much at all. but even levels of 5-40 compare with the average cage and "5.0" bulbs. 370+ is just the insanity of Florida sun (and only mid-state). we just had relatives in from upstate NY 2 weeks ago; no matter how much i warned them, guess who was a krispy kritter and putting on gobs of aloe and Solarcaine at the end of the first day? the highest levels i ever read on a completely sunny day in NY was about 120, 1/3rd of what i can get here.

if you can't measure with a meter (and i have advocated owning one for a long time now; don't guess on your bulbs, know!! do you guess on your temps and humidity?), i would err on still putting them outside ALWAYS. chams can also do things that we can't to absorb every last squirt of UVB like darkening their bodies, flattening out for more surface area, opening pores to their fullest. even if it were a day that read 1 on my meter, there's probably going to be a few minutes where it thins up and he gets more through the cloud layer. i do NOT want people to come away from this thread thinking a cloudy day is useless! a pitch black, stormy day might be, but most cloudy days will still let some through.

BUY A UVB METER PEOPLE! they are well within most cham owner's budgets nowadays, and frankly should be a part of basic care just like a thermometer/hygrometer.

Where would you recommend getting a uv meter at because I seen them for hundreds of dollars on reptileuv sites forgot the name of site. Do I guess on temps and humidity yes I just raised a 75watt to 100watt. I mist 1-3 times a day and sometimes none. I go by a Zilla digital meter for both. I still will go by the condition of the sky if it's white I ain't going to bother. I spent a lot of money on reptisun bulbs to do this. Thanks good day
