Making Smooth Branch Less Smooth

Hi everyone,
I recently finished (sort of) Kammy's adult cage setup. I used a huge branch/stick cut to 3.
Unfortunately he can barely climb it!
It seems to be way too smooth, and Kammy will easily slide down.

I was thinking maybe I could glue down some moss on the top/walking parts of the branch pieces to give Kammy something to grip to.
Can silicone keep moss attached well? Can live moss work as well as dry or artificial moss?

Is there a better way to add texture to a smooth branch? It's such a good set of sticks I would hate to have to toss them.
I figured gluing down moss would be simple, and the sticks are already wired tight in place.

Kammy currently prefers to just sit on the hanging pots, the slippery sticks seem to have left a bad first impression :T

That probably is the easiest solution. I'll re-wrap the pothos vines to be more functional.

Do you think moss could still help as a secondary thing?

I decided to just cut up tiny hatch marks and such all over the branches to give them texture. Now the branches give off this unpleasant odor... I baked them again and that got rid of some of it but when I smell the branches up close they still stink.
The smell doesn't fill a room or anything, but someone did tell me it reminded them of the smell of pee. So there's that haha.

Ugh. I think I'm just going to toss them. I am reading that some cut trees stink until they dry but... I can't wait for however long that would take. My cham needs water spraying, so these sticks would never have time to dry up entirely.

Thank you both for the twine idea. Unfortunately I got stuck with this stinky wood... I might toss it and look for a branch from a tree that doesn't produce a urine-like smell

I don't want to wait weeks for the smell to disappear before putting Kammy in the cage with it.

I don't buy branches! We have lots of apple trees in the area. I cut branches of all sized and leave the bark on, once they dry the bark looks like my grandma's skin! Lol, not smooth at all and easy and comfy to hold on to!

Bake them in the oven to dry them and eliminate the smell. It's probably harmless, at any rate. You can use vet wrap to wrap branches and add texture for grip. It is easily replaced when soiled or for a change in color.

Fresh branches will have less bark falling off, and less likely that bark will be ingested. I collected recently downed branches, then soaked in bleached which made some bark gelatinize and the remaining was falling off. It was a pain to remove the bark. I then baked them. I would also just recommend baking them to help sterilize and remove odor.

Thanks to you both, and I will accept the smell that is left.
I actually baked the thing twice. Once after bleaching/rinsing, and then again after the hatching I did, to try removing the smell.

I kept re-assembling and disassembling them in the cage which is extremely tedious, so I kinda gave up and don't want to bake them again for a while. I will accept the smell that's left since I can only smell it when I have my nose really close. Also, if the weak smell left isn't bad for Kammy's health then I'm okay with it even if I find it is unpleasant.

A few months from now I will probably bake them again, I just currently have had it

Again, thanks, and thanks everyone. That concludes my question.
