can anybody explain to me why ALL of the sources charge around the same price for these guys? they all seem expensive!

i normally run into a few ppl that sell dubia dirt cheap...

anybody out there know of a madagascan hissing roach dealer that sells them cheaper than the normal range??

Because they take forever to grow into a large enough colony to feed off of. I'm still working on mine and it's been what 4 months now?

Hissers were the first roach I had, starting with just a pair for pets. As I compare them now to the other roaches I have (Turks and Dubia) it is amazing how SLOWLY the hissers reproduce, espcecially when crowded (each male likes to have its own territory). The hissers also have a more complex social structure, with the mothers actually seeming to protect and care for the young for a time. This type of roach makes for an interesting pet, and my chameleons love to eat the extras, but they are not the most ideal as a feeder colony.
