Somebody did not like his antibiotic shots at all. He was Not a Happy C(h)amper.

Wednesday (his final shot), he was so discombobulated he put on Sambava colors. The camera doesn't begin to capture the vibrancy he was displaying.

We told him it was all For His Own Good, but he didn't believe us.

Aww! Poor l'il man! He's really not happy, lol! Did he get a bruise from the injection? When Lily had hers she bruised almost instantly. It's horrible taking them for injections. Lily hated hers and she even gaped and 'buzzed' at the vet as she was so mad - the only time she ever showed any attitude at all. Hope the meds will help him and he feels better soon.

He never bruised, though the vet warned us he might. As far as we could tell, he didn't feel bad to begin with - but he had a few pockets of bacteria on his tail where it had been burned at one time, and we wanted to eliminate them and make sure they didn't go systemic. He really looks like he's sulking, doesn't he?

Injection tenth and final was on Wednesday, so he's all done.

That's good that his ordeal is over with! The bruising is horrendous - the skin goes completely black pretty much instantly. Thing is you know how miserable it feels, so you've gotta feel for them! Fingers crossed that the meds have worked for him. Yeah, he really does look like he's sulking big time, lol!

he looks so sad, but I'll bet that he's glad that is over with.
I too hope that the meds take care of everything and he will be all right now.

Forgive me as I don't know the whole story here, but is it just me or does antibiotic injections seem a lil over kill? Wouldn't rub on antibiotic cream be enough? At the most some oral ones?

edit: He may be peeved, but he is gorgeous!

Thanks; we thought he was gorgeous, too! Shame he only puts on his best colors when he's upset.
I, personally, would have been happy with a topical antibiotic. His kidney function isn't quite perfect (he's on oral calcium for that), and the vet is worried that lowered kidney function leads to lowered immune response, and wanted to make sure the infection didn't get into the bloodstream and spread - hence the injections. I asked him about oral; he said it would be better than nothing, but that injected (subdermal) was much more reliable with reptiles - that you could give the same oral dose day to day and get quite variable absorption.
