Unlike a conventional camera that captures a single plane of light, the Lytro camera captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space.
they're pretty cool. i was on the waiting to list get one when they came out to the public but decided to wait to get one. the flagship one was around $500 or so. think i'll wait a little till this technology matures a little.
