Hey everyone i know this is a chameleon website but today i went to the doctors and found out that behind my right ear i have a lymph node. Thank goodness its not really serious but i panicked so much. I was like can it cause cancer and other diseases and i was crying all day also for the loss of my friends. They gave me a shot booohooo AND I WAS LIKE OUCH well you get it. :(
 
Thanks a ton. Also this week was the last week of school tomorrow is my last day and then 7TH GRADE. This week is horrible for me. Well summer means more time with all you guys and Clea my chameleon so this is a week i wont forget.
 
You have them a few places, there are some under your arms as well, in your neck too. They will swell when you are sick. Just one of the ways your body deals with things. Not usually anything to be concerned about. You can get cancer in the lymph nodes, it's called lymphoma, but they don't cause cancer. There are different kinds of that, my friend had Acute Non-hodgkins Lymphoma when he was younger. Had treatments 3rd -6th grade, they were able to get rid of it.
 
Clea- You are fine. As someone else stated, you have several in your body. Lymph nodes do not come and go. They help cleanse your body of impurities, which is why they may swell in your neck when you have a sore throat. Some places you have them are in your armpits, neck, behind your ears. and in your groin. I am sure you are just fine, the doctor would have spoken to you and your parents if there was something to be concerned about. :)

I had mono in High School and the lymphnodes in my neck swelled up to the size of golfballs. Thats when you can panic :p
 
A lymph node behind my left ear has been swollen for about a year now.. sometimes causes me a bit of discomfort, when I went to the doctors today.. they didn't do a thing about it. Said it was nothing to worry about. Bump's still there, and it's throbbing a bit right now, but eh. Doctors said it was nothing.
 
Everyone has lymph nodes. They swell when you get ill on occasion. Similar to tonsils. Sometimes they have to be removed, but it's not a serious issue. I have had lymph nodes and tonsils removed and I am still alive and kickin with no side effects. Don't stress so much! You are WAY too young to stress about things like lymph nodes. Think about the future and try and enjoy your summer! ;)
 
No worries-do you have a cold or anything? I will say that your thread here gave me a chuckle-it is like telling someone their epidermis is showing. You will get lots more Biology classes in school! :)

People will call you Clea because they may not know your real name and it's the name that you chose for your "Username" (Display name) CleaTheChameleon. So, by not knowing your real name they will call you by your username, so you will know their reply is directed at you.

Note: Sorry about my earlier post, it was not meant to scare you, just some information for you.
