Lowered appetite from antibiotic injection?

We brought Shiva in for a 2nd opinion yesterday and the vet said there is a slight RI and conjunctivitis, and they gave him an injection of Vitamin A and Ceftazidime. She said our husbandry is good (see how to ask for help form here ) and didn't have a clear explanation for why he has gotten sick. He's been rubbing his eye nearly since the day he arrived.

In any case, before his visit to the vet yesterday he was more active and eating normally. Today he didn't eat until later in the afternoon (He finally ate 6 crickets and he'll still have 4 hours to bask before lights off) when he usually eats first thing in the morning and while he is up moving around he is a bit less active. So, back to my original question. Has anyone ever noticed that after a trip to the vet and antibiotic injections that their appetite is reduced? I don't want to overreact if this is a common reaction to a stressful day at the vet, 2 injections including an antibiotic, with a chameleon who already isn't feeling well. I hate to think that he is going to feel ill after an antibiotic injection, especially as we have to give him one every 72 hours for the next 3 weeks

Am I being an over paranoid cham mom? I really want our little guy to make it through this.

Yes, the movement to and from the vet plus the injections can definitely make them feel stressed and not want to eat. Understandable, considering that they've not only been taken out of the cage they're accustomed to, but then poked by a strange person and injected, too!

Just keep up with the husbandry and give it time; it's unfortunately a side effect of medication sometimes.

Thanks for your thoughts, Jen.
Is that anyone else's experience with antibiotics?
Shiva was hunting this morning and generally looking better. Our female Kali, who is full of chutzpah is going through another shed today for the 3rd time in a little over 2 months, so it is a good and eventful morning!

Happens all the time.
No need to be concerned.
Chams do heal fairly slowly but I'm sure you'll be keeping an eye on him.
