Yesterday I got a call from my mom that something was wrong with Jade, are Brev Pygmy Leaf Chameleon. I went over to have a look at her and she was laying on her side gasping for air. My mom had already called the e-vet, but sense she was so small they told us there was nothing they could do :( I put her in a small deli cup and tried to give her a sauna thinking it might be a humidity issue, but it was no luck, she had passed :'(

I'm just not sure what was wrong? My mom takes the best care of the 2 chameleons, and are male was perfectly fine. She was always researching them and gave them new plants for there viv almost every week, it is a beautiful viv. Temps where perfect, Humidity too, she spays them 3 times a day usually because of winter. The only thing we noticed with Jade before she passed was she was really tired and sleeping allot during the day, but we just thought it was normal, another thing was a few days before she has this weird growth on her vent area, but we didn't think it was anything, it looked like she had just pooped on her tail, but I took a closer look when she passed and it was kinda a pink growth around the vent, just wondering what this could be?
I'm really trying to get some answers for my mom. I feel horrible, she was so attached to Jade. She had always wanted some pet chameleons, but was always afraid to have them because they are so delicate. I got her our male Rango for mothers day, then she got Jade in August. Jade had also layed some eggs in Sept. and we had just had her babies hatch in Jan (https://www.chameleonforums.com/pygmy-eggs-72584/) She was also going to be getting a bigger breed of Chameleon down the line too, now she doesn't want anymore because it hurts to much I feel so bad and just trying to figure out what happened :( Sorry for the long post, Just really confused. Thank you for your help and reading though!

I was thinking it might have been that, but I just wasn't sure. She seemed to still be going alright and it didn't look horrible till that day she went, it kinda just looked like a little poo on her tail. She was still eating too.

I was also thinking that too, she was a little older when we got her in August, and they don't have a long life span but we didn't even have her for a year :(

I am deeply sorry for your loss and my deepest condolences to you and your mother.

It sounds like a prolapse to me. I am certainly no vet but i have seen my share of animals with prolapses ( having worked at petstores) Sadly prolapsed animals generally require a surgery to insert and reattach the prolapsed organ.

if the prolapsed tissue dries out it will lead to infections and if my understanding is correct, if the tissue dies, the poor creature will pass as well. its a terrible thing, one in which case ( to my knowledge ) nothing could really have been done save surgery by an experienced reptile vet.
I am terribly sorry for your loss.
Also, Pygmy Chams have a short lifespan if i am not mistaken.

Do not the loss of one pet prevent you from the love of another.

I lost my baby, my 7 month old savannah monitor to heartbreaking and terrible seizures caused by parasites in her brain. Nothing could have been done and i had taken care of her in the best ways anyone could. sadly her fate had other plans for her. After almost 2 hours of Reviving her from these terrible seizures, she passed in the car on the way to the hospital.

The point of that story is this:
Instead of being discouraged by the heartbreaking loss of my little one, it inspired me to fall in love with Monitors and Large reptiles!

Let your love for Jade Inspire you to new heights, Honor little Jades memory by continuing with you and your mother's love of chameleons. Don't be discouraged!

Ps. I just read your other posts. Your from Nh? i'm in concord! i work closely on alot of my projects with Dave's Dragons. I sent you a private message. it should appear under your notifications in the upper right corner of the screen.
