New to this whole chameleon thing so any advice is welcome by me! I just bought Cleopatra “Cleo” some small Dubai roaches and she LOVES them. She let me itch her while she was shedding lol!!! She was rubbing on my finger like a cat! It was hilarious. She liked it. Then she would eat her skin after I helped itch her and it fell off. I have only had her for a week now but she seems to be doing good. I just need to buy a fogger and maybe an automatic mister for days where I can’t be here to do it. Other than that I have live plants in there and only 1 fake one. She doesn’t really touch the fake one though. She loves to take bites out of the money tree she has in there though! I’m in love.

Cleo is just so cute! I'd consider myself highly blessed if someone so cute used me as their shedding branch.
Since she's a girl, you will definitely want to read this! Girls are known for their egg laying, and it's gonna help to know what to do in advance. Another thing is, people tend to keep the girls' basking temp at around 80 farenheit, and to be careful in feeding her too much as she becomes an adult. This is to reduce the size of her clutches and thus, the stress on her body in laying them.

I believe foggers are also only recommended if your temps are below 68 farenheit at night. I can vouch for an automister though. Best purchase I've made. i'd recommend the mistking, although it's price might be a little frightening. You'll also need a dark, 5 gallon bucket alongside it to make into the reservoir. I have mine set to go off 30 minutes after my cham wakes up, 30 minutes before bed, and then an additional time in the middle of the night just to ensure the humidity spike.

Just in case your fake plant is plastic, you may want to consider affixing it to the outside of the screen cage instead, that way you can still keep it around and provide some more coverage for her.
I did this myself, and will be adding more because it also looks cool in my opinion :)

Veileds love to nibble on plants, so it's best to err on the side of caution because the impaction risk is there.
Also! Since she's a veiled, it will be helpful to read this and/or watch neptune the chameleon's guide on veiled chameleon care.

I hope any of this helps!

Hi and welcome! :) Cleo is just a little cutie patootie! 🤗 @LizardLurkin has given you some fantastic advice. Your sweetie looks to be maybe around 3-4 months (going by the size of her casque)…I’m not the greatest at guessing age. She still does have some growing to do, so don’t limit her food just yet. I would be giving her about 15 or so appropriately sized feeders daily. Roaches are a great staple feeder, but variety truly is the spice of life. Many on line vendors sell variety packs, which are great if you have just one or two insectivores. Along with the forum sponsors https://www.chameleonforums.com/sponsors/?tag=food some other decent vendors who sell variety packs are https://joshsfrogs.com/ and https://www.lindasgonebuggie.com/ While the last one is in Florida and not able to have dubia, she does have discoid roaches, which are very similar. Her prices are very reasonable. For grasshoppers, we only have two sources https://dragonhoppers.com/ and Khai Phan on Facebook (you have to PM him).
While having your husbandry as perfect as possible is needed for all chameleons, it’s especially important for our sweet and sassy girls to prevent egg laying issues. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We’ve all started at the beginning and this is an amazing community.
