Looking to purchase juvenile male panther Orange County area

Build out the cage and test all of your levels for a week. This is going to tell you what needs modification. You want to make sure that everything is set up perfectly before you purchase the chameleon. Once everything is running correctly with temps and humidity levels day and night then you order a chameleon from a reputable breeder. Check out our site sponsors. https://www.chameleonforums.com/sponsors/?tag=chameleons
Reputable breeder is important. You do not want to end up with a sick chameleon.

Before you purchase the chameleon post pics of the cage set up in the forum so we can help you in case anything needs to be adjusted.

Yeah…what she said ^^^. 😂🤪
I just want to stress the importance of buying from a breeder with excellent reputation. You may pay a bit more, but it is more than the animal that you are paying for. A breeder such as Kammerflage https://chameleonsonly.com/ has been putting much love and care into the animals that they pair and produce for many years, and will put much love and care into ensuring that you are a satisfied customer who will enjoy your beautiful and healthy animal for many years. Unlike some, they will still be there for you if needed after they get paid. I use Kammerflage as an example because not only are they excellent and have stunning chameleons, but they are located in California. The other breeders who sponsor the forum are just as excellent and have earned their wonderful reputations as well, but your animal may have to be shipped to you (which is really not as horrible as it sounds).

I recommend Chameleon Forums site sponsor Kammerflage Kreations. They are the main Panther Chameleon (Furcifer pardalis) breeder in Southern California. I have acquired more than a couple great Furcifer pardalis from this Furcifer pardalis breeder.

Best Regards

I was also thinking about going to the reptile show in Pamona to find one. Is that a good idea, or bad?
The thing about the shows is that you can end up with "breeders" there that do not keep their chams clean, housed, or fed properly. You can end up with a chameleon that has MBD, a respiratory infection, or even a parasite load. All of these are nightmares for a first time keepers. And a parasite load can mean stripping a cage down and losing money on what you put in. But the vet care for chameleons is often more expensive. Then there is trying to medicate a chameleon. For a new keeper this can be very very stressful.

Some really good breeders go to reptile shows too. As mentioned maybe reach out to Kammerflage and see if they are going to by chance be at the one you are thinking about going to.

Do UVB Led lights work?
Unfortunately, technology's not quite there with LED UVB lights, yet. Your best bet is to go with an Arcadia 6%, the bulbs last for a year. Where as the zoomed bulbs only last for 6 months, you end up saving money with the Arcadia brand.

There's also the option of the LumenIZE, it's the same thing, but has an app to dim the light and a few other features.

If want to keep your plants happy the LED jungle dawn from Arcadia will help them grow; however it doesn't provide UVB light.
