I have a 4 year old panther male and a 5 year old vieled male. These belong to my sons who are now involved in many high school activities and can no longer care for them properly. They both have some health issues and were treated by vets specializing in herp care. 2 enclosures as well as an outdoor enclosure are included. Looking for someone with experience to take them. You might have some trouble asking someone to take both of them and especially with health issues. There is a rescue out in California called House of Chameleons. They are a member on here and also have a website and are on FB. They would have to be shipped of course, but they get chameleons shipped to them all the time. I am pretty sure you will have to pay the shipping. You might have a good shot of having them adopted out together this way.
I sent them a message and will see what they say. I posted on Craigslist and had to pull the ad after 1 day because I got bombarded with responses from people who really had no idea how to care for them and saw that they were for free! I am confident I will find someone local. With a little TLC they should be fine.

It is VERY rare for chameleons to get MBD if they are properly cared for which includes, proper gutloading, calcium supplements and UVB lighting which is changed out on a regular basis(if housed indoors) I think out of all the hundreds of cases I have seen on here in my 4 1/2 yrs as a member there was one chameleon that got MBD with all the proper care. This chameleon it appears could not process d3 in the correct manner to absorb calcium. Like I said it is rare.
Their feeders were gutloaded, and dusted. Bulbs changed regularly, taken outdoors almost all summer, several costly vet visits with shots. 1 got MBD and the other didn't? Perhaps genetics and breeding can factor into it?
I didn't post here to have to defend myself against accusations that these chameleons weren't cared for. From what I've read here many others have came down with MBD. I am only trying to find good homes for them and that's it. I thought this was the right place to do that?

If you go the rescue route, I highly recommend Elisa at Chameo. She has been around a long time and does a great job with rehabbing and finding homes for chameleons in need.

Chameleons most certainly can get MBD even with the proper supplements and lights. My Mufasa was an example of that.

I never insinuated that you didn't know how to take care of chameleons! I would prefer that they both went to a good home and you only wanted 1. I decided to post here because I felt it was the right thing to do with the right people? I think you are way off by stating I am trying to "pawn" them off! I am also trying to "pawn off" 2 indoor and 1 outdoor enclosures as well! These guys are cherished family pets. It isn't an easy decision to part with them. My vet told us that he has treated many chameleons with MBD and growths. He is trying to relocate them for me as well without the dumb comments! Again I hope your chameleons are healthy forever. Try to chose your words more carefully next time? Perhaps it was a mistake for me to post here and try to do the right thing? I don't feel like I need to justify myself to you.

Even here it will be harder to find someone who can take both of them especially with known health issues. I know, logistically it would be simpler for you. This forum does get other pleas to take chams who have "outgrown" kids or keepers interests or finances believe me, so your request isn't that rare. Most of us have as many cham setups as we can fit now. You may need to be a bit more realistic and consider adopting them to different people. After all, the chams themselves won't care. Do you have any sort of local or regional herp society that may be able to help out?

I'd take them no problem but New Jersey is a hike from New Hampshire message me and maybe we can figure something out, I have 14 chams now I could take in two 2 more if they need a home!
