Here is a Brief section from one of my chameleon books. All credit goes to Phillipe de Vosjoli
"Meller's Chameleon (C. melleri)
Some of the largest chameleons, these awesome, but problematic, beasts are only for experienced keepers.
Size
Meller's Chameleon an exceed 2 feet in total length.
Sexing
Meller's chameleons have no obvious external signs to distinguish the sexes. Males may be larger and heavier bodied then females.
Acclimation
Imports of these species are notorious for having a high mortality rate, and carrying viruses capable of decimating a chameleon collection. In general, the best course of success is to start with captive-hatched juveniles. Segregate males from other chameleons because they try to eat small species and attack larger ones. A single bite from a Meller's chameleon can infect an animal with a fatal virus.
Care
This species an be kept using the same guidelines listed for panther chameleons, using indoor tree setups or large cages. They are the most aggressively carnivorous chameleon species, and particularly relish other lizards, including chameleons "

I think I had 8 at one point. Currently I have 7. But the 7th is a visitor until she lays her clutch.

LOL don't be, unless you have the room for them. right now three live in cages, four are in free ranges and one of the caged ones NEEDs a free range and I don't have room for it at the moment.
He's been raised in a cage so he doesn't climb the walls, but he needs a new home soon.

When you say free range, what exactly does that entail, i've heard it said so many times, but only vaguely understand the concept.
Also, what is the cage size?
I have a passion for the larger, more misunderstood reptiles and pour all my energy into housing and caretaking them in the best ways i can .
I love my herps!

This free range has three melleri in it. They are all pretty much full adults except George who... acts like one. She was beating up on Sam, a large male who wanted her basking spot. He eventually won the stand off.
Here are my other cages. The two on the right house melleri. The one on the end does as well. There is a panther in the second from left cage and in the cage under the free range. My large male lives in the free range. The temp resident female is in the end cage, Chris the gimp is in the cage on the right and the second cage from right is Jaimee who needs a new home since he/she is fully grown now. The cages are 24x24x48 and well planted.
Chris is a bit runty from his clutch and is missing a part of his tail. We had to remove half of it when he was young because crickets chewed through it. He was very runty.... after the tail was removed he/she grew a bunch but is still small for his/her age compared to Jaimee who lives next to him and is one year younger. Chris is alright though, just missing some marbles, but eats and drinks and all that jazz just fine.

I'm a sucker for taking in sickly types so unfortunately I am pretty good with infections, fungus, worms, missing nails and all that crappy stuff that hopefully you will never face.
I am currently documenting the progress with my latest sad sack rescue on facebook - you are welcome to check that out at www.facebook.com/thechameleonfarm There are plenty of photos of them all on there.
All of ours are free-ranged, some together, some alone depending on a variety of factors and for the most part very healthy and happy.

Glorious! i love it!!! i absolutely love the concept! Totally plan on building some of these free range enclosures when i get more space!
the enclosure i just built a 60" x 24" x 72" but that seems waaaay to small so the way i build things it'd be one hell of a project.
I love the concept of free ranging.

If its the ones on kingsnake from backwaterreptiles avoid like the plague. Google search and you'll see why.

The room is basicly empty other than a vivarium with cobalt dart frogs and a computer. It stays much cooler than my panther room.Im keeping it on the low as far as who has them, sorry untill I get mine anyway

Wow just plain WOW.. Love the FR with the white racks and shop lights, I will for sure look into doing this soon. What do you use for your misting system? Also drainage? More pictures on your drainage trays please!

How tall are the ficus plants? I hear they are very hard to take care of.
