weirdest thing. I woke up to my dog barking so i listened and heard a faint tapped/knocking nosie. Considering the fact i have 46 animals i shot right out of bed thinking that maybe someone had escaped and was making a beline for the inside of the wall. (happens about once a month, especially with my feeder mice) ANYWHOOO so my next thought of coruse, being the unsocial person i am, is that maybe there is someone at the door? I go to the front door and peer out. No one in the driveway, no one at the door, no one in site! So i went back to bed. Right as i close my eyes another tap tap tap. I went to the door again thinking this had to be a prank. I guess it kind of was. There was 3 sandhill canes, a momma dadda and baby all asking for food!! by golly what a morning! :D

That's so neat! I love these guys, I used to care for a family unit at a wildlife park and they are so tall! How funny that they came to your door looking for a hand out lol

No. I perfer to not breed because Most, not all, of my animals i rescue. You never know when you could stumble upon the next unwanted or neglected animal that needs a home desprately. Currently i have, 2 jacksons, 1 senegal, 1 veiled, 1 rosey boa, 1 ball python, 2 sulcata tortosies, 3 map turtles, 20 diffrent fish, 1 african clawed frog, 2 rats (NOT feeders, pets), 1 rabbit, 2 dogs, 6 cats...i don't think i forgot anyone. Then of course i have a tonnnn of feeders. And i have my own garden that i grow lettuce and carrots and squash in for my gutloading and for my tortosies!! Its alot of work.

Those cranes heard what a good thing your critters had going on, and figured you'd never notice 3 more mouths to feed! :)

haha thats too much! probably knew about the buncha cracked corn too that i had stored away for a rainy day with the ducks :D

Those sand hills are so hard headed. They are always blocking the entrance of where I live. They won't move either, you'll wait until they want to move.

I've seen them block up roads for 10-15 mins. (I live in a small town) Trucks and cars backed up for about a mile on a one way road for what? A crane. :) Sometimes i think they know the law and know we have to stop for them. Jerks!
