We've finally decided to get a new veiled chameleon after my 6 1/2 year old boy, Henry, passed away earlier this year.

As I'm young and still live with my mom I have to live by her rules, and I respect everything that she says. She feels that it's wrong to have a chameleon shipped through the mail and will not allow me to get one that way. I've been searching for quite a while for a breeder in norcal, but haven't really had any luck finding one. I live in Sacramento and she would be willing to drive (however, closer is obviously better) basically two hours in any direction to pick one up

I know that there is a big reptile show coming up in September, so if I cant find a breeder I'll just wait until then and check it out.

But in the mean time, does anyone know of any reputable breeders in the area?

Thanks!

lol i was just goin put that but was makin sure its this weekend ya beat me toit, go there youll find whatever your lookin for

Yeah, I got really excited about that show until I read the date... I have finals for my swim team this weekend and will be busy. :(

lol sancho hey i tried, thats a bummer ya cant make it im sure chad and the rest have something youd like

well keep it in mind ya never know ya swim team maybe out early, then ya can get ya cham, but i agree with sancho swim or cham id pick cham

I really would like to go, but my mom is a major part of it, she sets up most of the stuff that happens there, and since she is my ride... it's a no-go.

Well seems like you have 2 options if you can't find somebody local to you.

Option A: Get a chameleon at a local petstore. Usually they are horribly taken care of by the time they are given to the store from some backyard breeder. The store gets them and usually does even worse damage. Finally selling the animal to you overpriced and sick, needing a vet right away. With some misinformation and useless/dangerous equipment to boot.
The chameleon is stressed and sick from day 1, for months on end, until you finally buy him after months of miscare.

Option B: Ship a chameleon through one of the many reputable breeder sponsors or from the classifieds. Many, if not most people go with the shipping route. Things rarely go wrong.
The chameleon is stressed for 1 day. Usually sleeps the entire way. Arrives happily at your home after 24 hours.

Honestly, the choice is yours, but you should explain to your mother the pro's and con's before purchasing locally from a petstore.

May I ask what happened to the last one?

Agh. Trust me, I tried to make it work, but like I said, my mom is a MAJOR part of the swim thing, and she said she wouldn't have the energy to drive all the way there after working for a good 8 hours in the sun. And by the time we got there... it'd be closed.

I have a pet store that actually specializes in breeding lizards, they are one of the VERY FEW that actually do take care of their animals... however, they put on the big Sacramento show thing, so they don't have any chameleons right now.

My last chameleon died of old age, so it seems.

I'd just wait till the Sacto. show next month. You'll have a few animals to choose from that way.

Seems like you cared for your last veiled well if he lived 6 1/2 years. I would suggest buying from one of the site sponsors. They always have really nice chameleons and having a cham shipped isn't a bad idea at all. I've had 5 shipped and they all came out great. You kinda need to hound the delivery place though because they don't seem to care that there are live animals in the box, so if they are late at all (after 10:30) you need to call and find out where they are.

I said that I was planning on going, but I wanted to know if thre were any breeders around here. I wasn't really expecting any since I couldn't find any with my own research, but I thought I'd ask anyways. You never know who's a friend of a friend.

My mom made it clear that I can't get one shipped to me. :(

I live in the Bay Area, Ca. There is an underground breeder in Alameda named Stuart. He had a clutch hatch about 3 months ago. I purchased 2 sisters vieleds from him and they are very beautiful. I believe he has 2 females and 1 male left. He is selling them for 50 buck but usually goes lower if you are an "educated buyer"

Shoot me an PM and I will give you his information.
